We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Amber Havron. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Amber below.
Amber , appreciate you joining us today. We’d love to have you retell us the story behind how you came up with the idea for your business, I think our audience would really enjoy hearing the backstory.
About a decade ago I worked on the mother baby unit at a very busy hospital in Florida. I saw postpartum patients all day and tended to their needs. I felt like I knew what it looked like and when I was expecting my first 5 years later I felt confidant about what to expect. I spent all my time and energy on getting ready for baby and pregnancy. In my mind postpartum was just the floor I stayed in for 24-48 hours after childbirth.
After experiencing my first unmedicated labor and tearing and postpartum depression, I never wanted anymore children based just on that experience. No one told me running 2 weeks postpartum was going to trash my pelvic floor. No one told me nursing was hard and no told me some mom’s gain weight while nursing which explained why losing the weight was so exhausting for me. I was convinced my goal as a mother was to show the world I had a baby and nothing changed.
Thankfully I decided on more children, but this time I knew I needed a different experience. I reached out to old trainers who connected me to a prenatal trainer who educated me on how to honor the postpartum time properly. I learned how to prepare for birth, but also started learning that was just the beginning.
After my second I made my own all natural postpartum products to help with healing after birth. I remember thinking I wish I did this with my first instead of using all the products the hospital gave me that burned. Shortly after Salty was born.
2020 was it’s own struggle with lockdowns and covid, but navigating postpartum during a time the world is too scared to visit and help you only ignited my passion to show up for moms. Not just show up by giving them all natural products, but by reminding them thru social media the struggles they face are seen, that they are not alone and the moms on the gram that look like they have their shit together are likely lying.
There is not a lot of emphasis on postpartum care. I will acknowledge it is getting better, but we have such a long way to go for woman in America and I am honored to be on the journey to help women.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I was born and raised in Florida and spent all my life there until about 11 years ago I traded the salty ocean air for the snow and mountains in Idaho. I married my high school sweet heart and we have 3 children and a crazy red heeler.
I joke that I am the self proclaimed CEO because I barely know what I am doing. I am learning every day and just trying to show up authentically and be a support to moms at their most vulnerable times. Salty got its name not just because of my charming qualities, but because I also make salt scrubs and bath soaks. I offer many items for individuals looking for all natural body therapy, but I am most proud of my postpartum line.
I want people to see my brand and know I am not trying to make money of their insecurities. I want them to know that the women who started this cares about them and sees them. I care about using high quality ingredients because ingredients matter.

Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
Word of mouth and referrals are the main way my business is growing and it is the biggest compliment. Moms are gifted my postpartum set at a baby shower, love it and then gift one to a friend ect. I wish I could say I went viral on tiktok or Insta, but no I am convinced the algorithm hates me. I used to get real bothered by it until I started realizing intentionality is playing the long game. I started parternign with birth workers who gift their clients with my products.

Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
When I first started Salty I pushed my salt scrubs and little necessities because I thought I could reach more people and get more sales THEN I could really invest in my postpartum line because to me it had to be perfect. However, I realized I wasn’t happy I was focusing on the wrong thing and not my “niche” as they say. This past year I pivoted, I quit caring so much about all my other products and prioritized my postpartum line. Since then, I am happier and my postpartum care sales are growing so I guess you can say I’m thriving. Would I love to be on the Target baby registry, absolutely. But until then I will be excited about the little victories of helping more moms in my community.
