We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Amber Fisher. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Amber below.
Amber , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Naming anything – including a business – is so hard. Right? What’s the story behind how you came up with the name of your brand?
Frame Life Photography came from a saying I had always said anytime people would ask me when taking pictures or what was so special about being a photographer. Still to this day I always say “Frame Life, one photo, one moment at a time.”
Amber , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My name is Amber Fisher and I am the owner of Frame Life Photography. I started my business full time in August of 2019. Before then, I was minor professional that friends, family and others would hire to take their pictures. I’ve always had a passion for photography since I received my first Canon camera at the age of 10, until this day I still use Canon. Since then, I was always taking pictures, working in photo labs and eventually upgrading my equipment to forward my business and give my clients the best experience they all deserve.
My services include: portraits, family sessions, maternity and infant photography, historical artifacts, as well as custom vehicles and events. I also create custom images, graphic designs and made several logos including my own. I think if anything that will make me stand out is that I am very passionate about what I do and I want my clients leaving a session with the feeling that it is all about them and not just another job. I ask a ton of questions before and during the sessions so I can capture the moment they were absolutely looking for.
Another thing that comes to mind that makes me stand out is, I will also travel throughout the US to meet with a client for their event from a few hours to several states away. Also, I do have set pricing but also will work within someone’s budget and not shortfall their experience with me at all. Every client gets the same treatment when I am at a session with them.
One thing I am proud of is that I have clients that return and even surprise myself when I capture an image that I know they will love. Also my business has taken me on many of an adventure to places I’ve wanted to visit, meeting people I didn’t think I would have and working with some amazing and selfless people that give back to their community any chance they get.
I once was asked if I would go anywhere for a shot and I simply answered yes. I will drive all night, climb a tree or lay on the ground to capture that special moment for my clients. I treat everyone like I want to be treated and when I am editing, I look at every single photo and treat them if they were pictures of my family and only give them the best. I don’t shy away from a challenge, if anything it brings my creative side out even more.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
I think the most rewarding part of being behind the lens is seeing the clients relaxed, happy and all around enjoying the moment and then I get to hear later when they receive their images, that they are thrilled and love what I captured for them.
Another rewarding moment, is when something unexpected happens and I capture the moment and they don’t find out until they see it. Those little moments are what makes me keep going and being creative every chance I can.
Is there something you think non-creatives will struggle to understand about your journey as a creative?
I think everyone has a creative side and many times I’ve heard people say, “I wish I could take pictures like you or I’m not creative at all”. I remind them that they are and not everyone is the same in the creativity department. Even a friend surprised himself when he realized he did have a creative bone and we came up with something absolutely beautiful together. We all have our strength and weaknesses but it is up to us to find them and not give up in the process. This is not just for photography but maybe as simple as sewing a dress.
I am self taught with my photography but also my hobbies, I never took a class or earned a degree but it didn’t stop me from asking questions, reading articles about wanting to try something new or get that setting just right. I like to think outside the box and when you get into the mindset of “I think I’m going to try that or I can do that.” Then you are taking that leap and who knows how you will land. I have failed many a time but I have a line from a quote from Walt Disney that I say to myself every single day, “Keep Moving Forward” because if I stopped every time it didn’t go right, then I wouldn’t know if I could achieve what I want to do or go places I have been. Every moment is a journey and just throw caution to the wind and do it for you.
