We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Amber & Edson Delgado a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Amber & Edson , thanks for joining us today. Did you always know you wanted to pursue a creative or artistic career? When did you first know?

Our names are Amber and Edson Delgado. We are the women, man, driving forces, founders, dreamers behind “The Creative Blend”.
Our stories on when we first knew we wanted to pursue hair professionally are very different but that’s what we love about our paths.

After graduating high school Amber chose a career path that she heard about growing up, Nursing (the acceptable, reliable, always in demand). Her parents did it so why shouldn’t she, all she knew was she really just wanted to help people. Through the start of nursing school things in Amber’s life all felt like it was falling apart. She started to have issues in love, in knowing herself, financially, wrong career path, in what felt like all aspects of her life. In those moments she was lost. During her hardships, the best advice she got was “your parents don’t live your life you do” That realization helped her take a risk, quite nursing school and start cosmetology school in San Diego California. The moment she stepped foot into the school for a tour, she felt an overwhelming sense of peace and knowing that this is where she was suppose to be, the path she was meant for. From then on it’s been the best decision she’s ever made for herself, no regrets on pursuing her passion for HAIR.

When Edson was in high school, he had lots of different hobbies, but at the time skating was his passion, so him and his buddies were always outside. Which led Edson into buzzing everyone’s hair. This led to his curiosity, during a video game he made a bet to give the loser an actual haircut. Finishing the cut he realized he wanted to take it more serious and that kickstarted his passion for HAIR.

After meeting and falling in love Amber and Edson had this now profound passion for the same industry. With many shifts and changes in their personal lives and career paths over time they felt a bigger shift needed to happen. Which led them to decide to just go for it and that’s how “The Creative Blend” was born. They have enjoyed and have learned so much from all the ups and downs through their our careers separately. They are excited to share this new business venture with all of you and can’t wait for you all to experience it with them.

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?

We think the most rewarding aspect of being hairdressers is the craft itself. Being a hair artist is about more than just creating. It’s a profound exploration of the world and ourselves. Each transformation through hair is reflection of our thoughts, emotions, and creative outlook. In the moments of inspiration and the challenges of the creative process of hair that’s when we find our voices and transfer it into our craft. With that it gives us the ability to truly be US and create how we want!!! For us it’s most rewarding showing up authentically through our craft.

Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?

For us there are no rules to creativity. That drives our creativity journey. In creativity there’s so much inspiration, there’s so many different elements and beings that we can get inspired by. Which makes us all unique individuals and how our eyes perceive what inspires us completely different from each other is the most beautiful take away of it all, the goal of it all. We wanted the salon to be a space where our passion for hair could blend together to ignite creativity to share with clients and other hairdressers to inspire them to be what they believe is their most beautiful form in the most creative way.
