We were lucky to catch up with Amber Cronin recently and have shared our conversation below.
Amber, appreciate you joining us today. Are you happier as a business owner? Do you sometimes think about what it would be like to just have a regular job?
I’ve definitely had my fair share of moments when I questioned whether it would be easier to just have a regular job. Let me take you back to the last time I had that thought and give you a glimpse into what was going on in my world.
Picture this: It was a busy summer season, and I had back-to-back weddings lined up. The days were long, the to-do lists seemed endless, and the pressure was on to make each event absolutely perfect. I found myself juggling multiple tasks, managing vendor relationships, and ensuring every detail was flawlessly executed. In the midst of the chaos, that lingering thought crept into my mind – “Wouldn’t it be simpler to have a 9-to-5 job, without all this stress?”
I must admit, the idea of a steady paycheck, fixed working hours, and fewer responsibilities did seem tempting at times. The thought of not having to worry about the financial risks and uncertainties associated with running my own business was certainly appealing. But then, as I took a step back and reflected on why I chose this path, everything became clear.
You see, entrepreneurship runs in my blood. Growing up, both my parents ran their own businesses, and I witnessed firsthand the amount of hard work and dedication it takes to succeed. Their experiences shaped my perspective and instilled in me a deep appreciation for the freedom and fulfillment that comes with being your own boss.
After spending years in retail management, I felt a strong pull to create something of my own. It was when I planned my own wedding that I discovered my passion for the Colorado wedding industry. The joy of helping couples navigate the planning process, witnessing their love stories unfold, and turning dreams into reality became my driving force.
Yes, being a business owner is undoubtedly a roller coaster ride. There have been countless moments when I’ve questioned my decision and faced challenges that made me want to throw in the towel. But deep down, I know that walking away from this journey is not what I truly desire for my life.
The truth is, running a small business has its fair share of pros and cons. It requires immense dedication, resilience, and the ability to adapt to ever-changing circumstances. There have been times when self-doubt crept in, and I contemplated taking an easier route. However, I pushed through those moments because I couldn’t deny the immense fulfillment I feel in helping couples create their perfect wedding day.
The reward of seeing the smiles on my clients’ faces, knowing that I played a part in their special day, is beyond words. It’s what keeps me going, even during the toughest times. The freedom to be creative, the opportunity to make a difference, and the joy of doing what I love – these are the reasons why I chose to be a wedding planner.
So yes, there might be moments when the idea of a regular job seems tempting, but at the end of the day, I wouldn’t trade the ups and downs of being a business owner for anything else. This is my passion, my purpose, and what brings me true happiness.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.

How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
Let me fill you in on how great communication and a pleasant disposition have helped me establish a strong reputation for exceptional customer service and happy clients.
First and foremost, I believe that open and effective communication is the foundation of any successful client relationship. I make it a point to listen attentively to my clients’ needs, desires, and dreams for their special day. By truly understanding their vision, I can tailor my services and recommendations to meet their specific requirements. I stay in constant communication throughout the planning process, ensuring that my clients are always informed and involved in every decision, big or small. This level of communication helps build trust and confidence, making my clients feel valued and heard.
But it’s not just about the logistics and details; it’s also about creating a comfortable and enjoyable experience for my clients. From our very first meeting to the final moments of the wedding day, I strive to bring a positive and friendly energy to every interaction. I believe that a warm and pleasant disposition goes a long way in building trust and fostering a collaborative atmosphere. It’s important to me that my clients not only feel like they’re working with a professional but also with someone who genuinely cares about their happiness and satisfaction.
By combining great communication with a pleasant disposition, I have been able to create a reputation for outstanding customer service. I am proud to have a long list of happy clients who have been delighted with the level of care and attention I provide. Their positive word-of-mouth recommendations have been instrumental in establishing my strong reputation within the market.

Are there any books, videos, essays or other resources that have significantly impacted your management and entrepreneurial thinking and philosophy?
As the owner of Rita Rose Creative, I’m often asked about the resources that have significantly impacted my management and entrepreneurial thinking and philosophy. One book that has had a profound impact on me is “Building A Story Brand” by Donald Miller.
In this book, Miller explores the power of storytelling in marketing and branding. He emphasizes the importance of positioning ourselves as the guide for our clients, while recognizing that they are the true heroes of their own stories. This mindset shift has been instrumental in shaping my approach to working with clients.
By embracing the concept of being a guide rather than the hero, I am able to better understand and meet the needs of my clients. I strive to create a warm and personal experience where my clients feel supported and empowered in planning their dream wedding. It’s not about me taking center stage; it’s about elevating my clients and helping them shine as the heroes of their own love stories.
Moreover, “Building A Story Brand” has taught me the value of clear communication and storytelling in connecting with clients. It has inspired me to use a conversational and personal tone, just like we’re having a friendly chat, while maintaining professionalism and focusing on the unique needs of each client. This has helped me establish a clear brand identity that resonates with couples and sets me apart in the wedding planning industry.
While “Building A Story Brand” has been a significant resource for me, I continuously seek inspiration and knowledge from various books, videos, and essays that align with my values and goals. I believe in the power of continuous learning and staying up-to-date with industry trends to provide the best possible service to my clients.
Ultimately, my goal is to create a wedding planning experience that reflects the principles of “Building A Story Brand” – where my clients are the heroes, and I am their trusted guide. I am grateful for the insights and inspiration I have gained from this book and other resources, as they have helped shape my philosophy as a wedding planner.
