Amber, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Let’s start with the story of your mission. What should we know?

I’ve always loved photography. Images or videos that made an emotional impact. Even just listening to music I would create different scenes in my head. The older I got, the more and more I fell in love with the art of photography. I become drawn to portrait photography in particular. Just capturing the human form and face; sharing different shots of people expressing themselves; moments caught in time that would live on forever. I definitely fell in love. But, as my skill started to develop, an emptiness began to grow. I did not understand why I was feeling so unfulfilled with with something that brought me so much joy,

As time passed I kept asking myself the same question, “what is my purpose?”
That question continued to come up over and over. After some years of isolation, not photographing as much, I got excited about photography again. This time though, I had a vision! I was in the process of rediscovering myself. Getting older, getting married, becoming a mother, and watching my family go through turmoil. I was ready to create and combine my passion with photography with a more powerful purpose and help capture and share other women’s stories of rediscovery, self Love & transformation.

At times, life can feel so isolating. As people, with so much going on, we don’t like to lay out our burdens and problems to others. But, with the “Rediscover Campaign” I’ve created a safe environment where women can come and share/express their traumas and triumphs while also celebrating themselves. The Rediscover Campaign is a unique portraits experience where each women who joins gets professional makeup day of the shoot, a professional photo shoot by me, and video interview sharing her story of self love and transformation. She may also add any self love workshops we have going on throughout the year! We end each years program celebrating close to 20 women at our annual Rediscover Gala! During that time some of the women will share their journey on stage live, we have live performances, food, drinks, & awards!

I can truly say now that I am completely fulfilled with my passion as a photographer. I was able to find a more meaningful purpose and that is not only to create beauty portraits of people but also share their incredible stories of hope, perseverance, and love.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers

My name is Amber, I am a professional photographer. I was first introduced to photography in high school when I took digital photography. My high school teacher noticed I had an eye for photography before I ever thought I liked it. After graduating I found myself in several portrait studios and that is where I fell in love. After a few years working at different studios I decided to create my own business and become a freelance photographer. Kayleen Imagery was born.

For years I built up my portfolio. Doing event photography, portraits, beauty, fashion, & family. After delving into so many different genres of photography I found out I really enjoyed photographing individuals or groups of two mainly portraits.

I still felt unfulfilled as a photographer. So I create the Rediscover Campaign where I highlight a group of women each year. We give each woman space to share her personal journey of self love and transformation as well as celebrating them with a Gala celebration. We have started to include different self love workshops to continue to help provide the tools needed to help aid in their personal development, tap into their innermost self, and to reach their highest potential.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?

When I had a rough idea outlined in my mind about how I wanted the Rediscover Campaign to go, I didn’t stop to really think. All I knew is I had a burning desire inside of me to create this campaign so I did. I have just been learning as I go. My resilience comes in when I continue to go even on the days I don’t feel like it. After questioning myself on how I could possibly afford this. Putting my own money into until I learn how to get connected to the right sponsors or opportunities. Marketing with almost nothing yet still reaching out and talking to women about the campaign. Resilience in not giving up on something you love and pushing through, seeing the end of the road but enjoying the journey.

How did you build your audience on social media?

Social media is king right now. You don’t need a fancy ad agency or even a website. My advice would be to film/document everything. Tell a story, give advice. Just share your content and be very consistent. People love to watch others. When it comes to business people love to see the process.

I’ve built my audience organically over time. First just posting portraits I’ve taken. Now sharing more videos and reels of my day to day process or recap of a photoshoot. I’m implementing more days of just creating content. For example I would set up a shoot and spend 4-6hr day just getting the content. That content can last me a two month period. Be creative and just share. Even if it’s just a thought put it out there as just a story. Always interact with your audience and who them you are human too.
