We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Amber Anvick a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Amber, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. What do you think it takes to be successful?

Success in the notary business hinges on a combination of hard work, dedication, and an understanding that success can mean different things to different people. For some, it may signify a steady stream of clients and financial stability, while for others, it might involve establishing a reputable brand that is synonymous with trust and reliability. Consistency plays a crucial role in this journey; it is necessary to regularly uphold high standards of service, maintain open lines of communication with clients, and stay informed about industry regulations. By committing to these principles and putting in the hard work required, notary business owners can build a strong foundation that not only fosters growth but also reflects a personal definition of success tailored to their unique goals and values.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?

Becoming a notary, wasn’t something I planned or even thought about, but I’ve always been an entrepreneur at heart. Being a stay at home mom, my focus was on my family and raising our two amazing kids but when my son turned 18, I decided to take a leap of faith and follow my heart. I started researching several different ideas, I wanted a business that would fulfill me personally as well as offer the flexibility I needed to have a healthy work-life balance, and becoming a notary would do just that. I’m able to set my own schedule, provide a valuable service to my community and create an additional income for my family. So I jumped head first into training, getting certified and learning everything there is to know about the notary world, and before I knew it my business was taking off.

Helping people with their most important documents is what I do, but it’s so much more then that. From watching my clients excitement when they sign for their new home, or assisting a family with executing their estate planning documents, it’s about providing a valuable service with care, trust and quality that our clients can appreciate.

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?

Building my social media audience been a long, yet rewarding journey. I focus on sharing valuable content that resonates with my notary community, such as notarization processes, business tips and motivational quotes. Combining educational and motivational posts, has helped me connect with my audience on a more personal level. Consistency is key; I engage with my followers regularly, respond to every comment, and utilize stories and reels to keep my content fun and engaging.

For anyone looking to grow their online presence, my primary piece of advice is to be authentic and provide value. Identify what sets you apart in your field and share that expertise with your followers. Interact with your audience, genuine connections will create trust and encourage word-of-mouth growth. Collaborate with others in your industry, and don’t shy away from showcasing your personality. Finally, be patient and persistent; building an audience takes time, but staying true to yourself and being consistent will help you create a flourishing online community.

What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?

I truly believe my reputation within the notary community has been largely driven by my commitment to networking and supporting fellow notaries. I’m active on social media and in online groups, where I’ve connected with so many amazing people in the notary industry. As I continued to share my knowledge, I created a mentorship program to help new notaries grow their businesses and build their brand, as well as an online group where notaries can uplift and support each other. Staying dedicated to the collective growth and success of our industry is a big part of my business, and I encourage everyone to network and support others in their community.
