We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Amber Adams a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Amber, appreciate you joining us today. So, naming is such a challenge. How did you come up with the name of your brand?
The Inspiration Den stemmed from the love of the entrepreneurial journey, from the start of the idea to its coming to fruition. Basically, a “Den” or “Place” for all things inspiring to encourage others like me! I started The Inspiration Den as a blog in 2013, here I would interview different businesses that inspired me and share all about their businesses, what inspires them, and any advice they would give to other entrepreneurs just starting their journey. That’s where I got the name The Inspiration Den!

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
This question is a loaded one! I’m an entrepreneur at heart and LOVE the journey of building and growing a business and over the years I’ve had the opportunity to build some businesses I’m proud of. I would say all the businesses I’ve built the ones I’m focused on now are my favorite because I’m able to do it while being a full-time homemaker. My entrepreneurial journey started in 2009 when I started a company with one of my best friends, we launched a wedding invitation company at the height of the tailored-made wedding phase called TYPOLOGIE & CO. This company turned into a logo design company for various brands. I am a graphic designer and still do some side work for companies I love. My invitation company showed me how much I love working with other creatives which spawned The Inspiration Den Blog where I interviewed other like-minded creators in hopes to inspire others! I did this for a few years until I got married, and started a coffee subscription company called @sincerelycoffee again we were a story-driven brand and I LOVE a good story and coffee!
All that to say, all of my past endeavors, wins, and even failures have set me up to where I am today. I’ve learned over the years that I want my business goals to align with where I am currently in life. I’m a mom of two little girls and the health and wellness of my family play a huge role in my current business. I started fermenting along with the rest of the world when the pandemic hit in 2020 with Sourdough bread. I was a mad scientist when I started making bread. I had about 5 different sourdough starters on my counter, experimenting with various flours, it was what kept me busy during that confusing time. From there the idea of fermentation grew, what else could I create, and how will it benefit and nourish my family? This led me down a road of research into how fermented foods play a critical role in your health and wellness. Now I’m making lots of different fermented foods and teaching how to do it on my youtube channel @theinspirationden and blog. I share recipes and tutorials on how to make a basic saurkraut, kimchi, kefir, kombucha, etc.
As a full-time homemaker, I know how isolating it can be and the challenge of working while caring for others is no easy endeavor. I hope I can share my knowledge of how I balance family, work, health/wellness, and self-care with those who could use it.
I am so proud of all the things I’ve built over the years but the thing I am most proud of is my journey as a homemaker and how my fermenting can nourish my family, and help other families in their health and wellness. Also, I would love to just inspire others to pursue their dreams and passions in any stage of life they are in. I know how hard it can be to feel trapped by a full-time job that you need while trying to build a business on the side, be a parent and find time for work, and other endeavors.

Have you ever had to pivot?
Yes, I mentioned this earlier but I started an invitation business in 2009 when tailer-made weddings were at their peak. After a few years of doing this, I was burnt out. I know anyone who was in the wedding world can attest it can be very high pressure to design and deliver for a bride. I felt like I needed to pivot my business and again pursue what I felt was a healthy change for me and my creativity. I decided to change TYPOLOGIE & CO. into a branding and design house. I am so glad I did becuase I was able to create and get to know so many other amazing creatives, do what I love, and have much more creative freedom! I feel like you need to follow your gut when it comes to changes to your business and pivot along with the changing times for yourself personally and professionaly.
We’d love to hear about how you keep in touch with clients.
Keeping the conversation going! I find I foster the best brand loyalty with my clients, subscribers, and followers just by talking to them. See how I can improve, and what they want to see from me, asking how my videos have helped them in the fermenting journey, and just responding back. Also, this helps with social media in general. Social media can be tricky, especially with the algorithm mysteries, I find if you use it to connect with your audience the more you can show up regularly in their feeds, get more eyes on your product, videos, etc. and get more subscribers, clients, and sales! I’ve also made some great clients turned friends by keeping the conversation going!
