We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Amarra Kiara. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Amarra below.
Hi Amarra, thanks for joining us today. Let’s jump to the end – what do you want to be remembered for?
My legacy will be one of advocacy and staying true to my beliefs. Despite the pressures of society and its unrealistic expectations, I have remained dedicated to my commitment to authenticity and self-expression.
Through my God-given gifts, I have been able to create art and spaces that empower women to love themselves, embrace their uniqueness, and grow into the best versions of themselves. It is a privilege to be able to touch the lives of women around the world, inspiring them to embrace their own power and worth.
Amarra, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Hey there! I’m Amarra Kiara, a fashion designer, author, and creative director. Some people might call me a serial entrepreneur because I love diving into different ventures. Alongside my psychology and human services career, I’m passionate about highlighting women and their stories through fashion and other creative outlets. I believe in standing up for what I believe in and empowering women in every room they walk into. Growing up, I witnessed many women lose confidence due to their past experiences, and that’s why I believe that having a story is what makes you shine. I use fine fabrics, unique textures, and statement-making accessories to make women feel like the stars they truly are. Over the past four years, I’ve had proud moments like working with amazing celebrities such as Lakeyah, Dess Dior, and Bhad Bhabie. It’s been incredible to make an impact and launch my accessory line. Starting KIOR Couture at a young age has brought me closer to my vision and purpose. Each collection I create serves a greater purpose of empowering women like myself. I want my supporters and customers to know that I’m just a girl from around the way, facing life’s challenges and using my experiences to create art that uplifts others.
We’d love to hear about how you keep in touch with clients.
Staying connected with my clients and customers is a breeze! I have various ways to keep in touch, like email and text lists, social media, and meeting up in person. But it’s not just about business for me, my clients are like my girls. We’re there for each other beyond sales, sharing encouraging words, having a good laugh, and chatting about life. I love being able to provide resources when they need them. Sisterhood is everything to me! That’s why I even organize ladies’ nights events, so we always have a reason to catch up and have a great time together.
How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
I’ve had to pivot a lot in my journey. It hasn’t been a walk in the park. Not too long ago, I lost my showroom and had to move my studio and office to my apartment. It was bittersweet. Part of me didn’t understand it, but part of me was relieved because I wanted my showroom to be better. I’m a perfectionist and a visionary, and it wasn’t coming together how I wanted it. When I moved everything back home, it became clear. Sometimes you can have too much dip on your chip. Like, relax and make sure you understand your way. Now, everything feels good and every move I’m making is calculated, clear, and purposeful. God is good.
