We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Amarnath Muchandi a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Amarnath, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Risk taking is something we’re really interested in and we’d love to hear the story of a risk you’ve taken.

I was born and raised in India, in a middle-class, spiritual family where stability and steady income were seen as the ultimate goals. Education was highly valued, but opportunities were limited. In fact, I was the first in my family generation to pursue a degree in Mechanical Engineering—a huge milestone, given that no one before me had even completed high school, except for my sister.

Like many young graduates, I assumed that earning a degree would lead to a fulfilling life. I landed a job in the mechanical field, and within just 11 months, I was promoted to manage a team of 13 people. By traditional measures, I was doing well, but deep down, I knew something was missing. Despite my accomplishments, I felt disconnected from the work I was doing. It was as though I was living someone else’s dream, not mine.

One evening, under a full moon, I found myself back on my college campus—a place surrounded by nature and peace. As I gazed at the night sky, I was overwhelmed with a question: What am I really meant to do? That moment was transformative. It became clear to me that the life I was living wasn’t aligned with who I truly was.
The next day, I made the boldest decision of my life: I quit my stable, 9-to-5 job. I didn’t have a plan, but I had a realization—I didn’t know my own path yet, but I wanted to dedicate my time to helping others who knew theirs.

I started working with small entrepreneurs locally in India, providing support with tasks they needed help with. Meanwhile, I spent my free time trading in forex markets, where I became aware of the currency exchange differences between countries. That sparked an idea: I could use this advantage to help entrepreneurs from places like the US, UK, and Canada. The exchange rate made my services affordable for them and valuable for me.

With my skills in tech support, day-to-day operations, and marketing, I started offering services to entrepreneurs abroad. Because of the currency difference, they could afford my services at a lower cost, and for me, the income was life-changing. This decision transformed my life.

Taking that leap of faith was terrifying, but it allowed me to find work that aligns with my purpose. Today, I get to support entrepreneurs worldwide in bringing their visions to life. Reflecting back, that full moon night wasn’t just about taking a risk—it was about rediscovering myself and creating a life I truly love.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.

Since childhood, creativity has been in my DNA. Growing up, I was the go-to person for designs, drawings, presentations—even flyers for college events and family functions. In my engineering days, I loved making hand-drawn designs, and those artistic skills stuck with me. When I decided to leave my 9-5 job, all I knew was that I wanted to use my creative skills to help others. I began assisting entrepreneurs with presentations, social media graphics, and pitch decks.

It wasn’t long before I realized that this was just the beginning of something bigger. To expand my skills, I took courses in social media, graphic design, and video editing. In fact, one of my clients encouraged me to take a digital marketing course, even helping me enroll so I could support her business more fully. That’s how I transitioned into the world of digital marketing and tech support.

Today, my services cover everything from website design and social media marketing to video editing, podcast management, and email automation. I help coaches and entrepreneurs create their courses, design workbooks, manage online events, and handle all the behind-the-scenes work needed to make their visions come to life.

I believe in honesty, transparency, and providing high-quality, cost-effective services with on-time project completion. So many agencies and freelancers make big promises but don’t deliver; they often charge high fees without offering real value. I’m committed to being different, offering genuine support and services that fit my clients’ needs and budgets.

I also take pride in building lasting relationships with my clients. Many of them become friends, and that level of trust and connection is incredibly fulfilling. Knowing that they value my work and keep coming back is something I’m truly proud of.

What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?

I truly believe that the biggest factor in building my reputation within my market has been the trust and relationships I’ve fostered with my clients. I’ve never relied on paid marketing or advertising; my business has grown purely through word of mouth and referrals. Clients recommend me to their friends, fellow entrepreneurs, and business partners because they trust me and believe in the work I do.

From the very beginning, I’ve made it a priority to provide quality service, be transparent, and truly support my clients in their journey. Because of this, my clients know that they can count on me to always have their best interests at heart, and I’ve built lasting relationships that go beyond just business transactions. This genuine approach has allowed me to become a trusted resource, and I’m proud to say that many of my clients have been with me since I started my journey.

The fact that my reputation is based on trust, transparency, and the value I deliver, rather than paid marketing, is something I’m truly proud of. The loyalty and support from my clients have been invaluable, and I’m grateful for the incredible connections and growth I’ve experienced because of their belief in me.

What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?

A major lesson I had to unlearn was the belief that to live a successful life, you have to follow the traditional path of working a 9-5 job and earning a lot of money. Growing up, I saw my parents and grandparents work tirelessly to provide for our family. Their sacrifices and hard work instilled in me the idea that the key to success was financial stability through a steady job. So, when I graduated and landed a well-paying job, I thought that would bring me happiness and fulfillment.

However, as time went on, I realized that despite the financial security, something was missing. My soul wasn’t satisfied. I was good at my job, I had a promotion, and I was earning well, but it didn’t feel like my true calling. That was a hard truth to face – the idea that success didn’t look the way I had always envisioned. The decision to leave that high-paying job and take the leap into something uncertain wasn’t easy. It wasn’t just about leaving a steady paycheck behind; it was about shifting my entire mindset and redefining what success meant for me.

It took time, but unlearning this belief and trusting in my own path has been one of the most liberating decisions I’ve ever made. It was a big mental shift, but now I know that true fulfillment doesn’t always come from financial gain. It comes from doing what aligns with your purpose and finding joy in the journey.
