Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Amari Samya . We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Amari thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Before we get into specifics, let’s talk about success more generally. What do you think it takes to be successful?
Innovation and tenacity is what I believe it takes to be successful. Over time success is measured by lessoning the gap between you and your goals and achievements. As a 24 year old museum owner I honestly never had the dream or passion to do what it is I do today. What I will say is I not only fell in love with problem solving and obstacle management but I truly gained a passion for becoming a niche entrepreneur.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I am Amari Samya, a 24 year old museum owner. I began in the industry of Theatre Performance and received a Bachelors of Fine Arts from Virginia Commonwealth University in December of 2020. Graduating during a global pandemic hindered me from going directly into my career field so I pivoted to TV & Film. I’ve always had an interest for producing and film production and my production company Samya Productions was a seed of that passion. Developing an immersive museum for my hometown honestly was just a love letter to a place that shaped my character, Cincinnati Ohio. One thing about entrepreneurial ventures is you have to be willing to fail big and if you never take the risk you’ll never reap the benefits of the reward. Fast forward to today, I am the owner of the #1 Selfie Museum in Cincinnati and have been awarded by Healthy Framework in just 8 months of operation, the Best First Date Night Museum in Cincinnati.
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
With any vision you have, as an entrepreneur you come to a point in your journey where you doubt your capabilities and your capacity to execute. I had those feelings early on in the process of building out Selfie Cincy but I didn’t allow my creativity to sit within those feelings. I was expressive and I moved forward mounting my first museum in under 90 days.
Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
