We recently connected with Amari Jones and have shared our conversation below.
Amari , appreciate you joining us today. I’m sure there have been days where the challenges of being an artist or creative force you to think about what it would be like to just have a regular job. When’s the last time you felt that way? Did you have any insights from the experience?
Not all the time, sometimes you get the feeling of getting impatient or a lack of motivation but then I turn around and think maybe I could just be normal and live a normal live then my head explodes. It’s not something I can fathom, giving up on one’s dream and passion.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I consider my self a curator of hearts and minds. I always loved the things that made you either A feel something or B make you think about something. Before I got my start as an artist doing shows all around LA and San Diego I wanted to be a graphic designer. My first passion was drawing I realized it allowed me to express myself more with what I was feeling. All art is a form of emotion, drawing and making music helped me find myself as a person and in return the art pushes the culture forward. Music and art has always been the standard for culture the way we dress, the way we think. I’ve never been a good public speaker but through art and music my language becomes more comprehensible.
Do you think there is something that non-creatives might struggle to understand about your journey as a creative? Maybe you can shed some light?
Being a creative sometimes can be a double edge sword. There will be moments where you feel alone and no one understands you and you’ll feel like the odd one out but then you’ll look and be glad that your not like everyone else there’s something special about you and it’s up to you to find what that is
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
There’s a saying I say “ constant motion keeps the money constant” and truly that’s all there is to it. The more you produce on a consistent basis the more they notice your work ethic might even want to start to root for your success. Never know who’s watching just keep going.
