We recently connected with Amante Hall and have shared our conversation below.
Amante, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Can you open up about a risk you’ve taken – what it was like taking that risk, why you took the risk and how it turned out?
Starting the TrueTone show has been a blessing I didn’t realize I needed. Taking the risk has opened numerous doors to meet new people. The story goes like this: I spent a year contemplating before I finally took the Jump. I kept telling myself to just do it, and I couldn’t have imagined the profound impact that one tiny step would have.
Immersing yourself in risk-taking is one of the most significant forms of self-belief. Once you learn to do it, it becomes a powerful tool. Risk-taking demonstrates a willingness to break free from the unhealthy rules we unknowingly impose on ourselves. These rules can hinder us from pursuing projects, business ideas, or creative adventures. We need more individuals who are willing to explore what lies on the other side of these self-imposed limitations.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
One day, I was driving in my car, and I turned on the radio, hearing some hosts sharing their opinions. I didn’t quite like what I was hearing, and it occurred to me that I could engage in a similar conversation. So, I recorded myself on the voice memo app on my iPhone, and I shared it with a few friends. They gave their approval, and that’s when I began to plan the creation of a show. I came up with the name, TrueTone, during the pandemic. This show is all about interviewing people from various walks of life – a podcast for the people, true to culture, and true to the stories. It’s True Tone.
Within a year, I managed to acquire all the necessary equipment, but life got busy, and I put the project on hold. Then, in October or September of 2022, my uncle passed away suddenly. It hit me hard, and I couldn’t help but remember our past conversations. His passing inspired me to finally launch the TrueTone show at the beginning of 2023, and I’ve been going strong ever since.
I take immense fulfillment in the many meaningful conversations that have taken place and the incredible opportunities that have emerged from starting TrueTone. Hosting this show feels like a true representation of who I am, and it’s an incredibly liberating experience.
For anyone seeking funny, thought-provoking discussions with special guests and engaging topics, the TrueTone show is a must-listen. Additionally, I also work as a freelance event host.
You can find The TrueTone show on all major podcast streaming platforms.

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
I had to learn the importance of unlearning what people may think. It’s crucial to create what you love and envision, and the right audience will naturally be drawn to it. Belief in your purpose is key. The mere fact that you are the one leading or doing it makes it unique and special. Don’t create or do it solely for the approval of others; do it because there’s a burning passion within you that needs expression.
Think of it like starting a campfire – you ignite it to keep warm, and as the fire burns, people are naturally drawn to its warmth. I firmly believe it all begins with the self, and from there, everything else falls into place.

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
My goals are straightforward. I aspire to reach a stage where I can have meaningful conversations and interviews with anyone.
I envision TrueTone becoming a nationally recognized show, and that’s the ultimate objective. I’m committed to this journey for the long term.
In the short term, I plan to incorporate video elements into the show within the next year. Additionally, I’m excited to collaborate with networks or brands that align with the values and content of the show.
