We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful A’mani Taylor. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with A’mani below.
A’mani, appreciate you joining us today. Being a business owner can be really hard sometimes. It’s rewarding, but most business owners we’ve spoken sometimes think about what it would have been like to have had a regular job instead. Have you ever wondered that yourself? Maybe you can talk to us about a time when you felt this way?
Yes I am happier to be a business owner I really don’t have to answer to nobody but myself or my customers. Having a regular job did come cross mind when I was 16 years old but I’m over it now because I had a moment of clarity if I had a regular job then they’ll have me working 9-5 shifts all day literally on my feet from 9 to 5 and I don’t want to be in that predicament for the rest of my life this isn’t bee movie it’s Life my life in fact so live it.
A’mani, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
About me I’m more so a loner and a workaholic at times I don’t have much else to do in my day that doesn’t involve going to school, drawing or working, that’s the life of a beginner at most a poor little girl striving to get out the mud and make it to the big leagues with 6-7 figures maybe even 8 I just want to make money doing what a love most in the world Hair and Drawing and live a lavish life. I like how I wasn’t just given a fancy lavish life I like how I actually get to see how it is to cook my own meals and dress my self you know I love how I get to do for myself and others in this lifestyle even when I don’t have money I should be giving to others weather it’s food clothes or money sooner or later everything will come to pass and do better in my life sooner or later my business will be the top story yet anybody’s going to be talking about and I’d like to say I’m ready but there’s still a couple of things to uncover in my life before I’ll be fully ready. At the moment now I’m grateful that I’m able to get featured in the little things and that I’m able to get into the new trends and songs on social media Im allowed to put my brand out and get more clarity and attention just by posting my brand to a song. Business right now is ok it’s not really booming you know it’s just sitting at the moment right now but when I get back on my feet I’m not going to stop working and trying to grow my business it’s not easy but I know that soon all this hard work will pay off one day. I’m not going to stop until I get i get to the finish. The products I provide in my business are Wigs I will soon make and customize wigs and sell them but for right now I’m enjoying the fact that I can just sell them for right now. Soon one day I’ll be able to open up a hair salon that does wigs lacefronts, lace frontal ponytails, bundle sewin, Leave outs and even braids and if a lash tech or eyebrow tech needs a place to work then I’ll be there to provide them a station my mom is a nail tech and she’ll be the one to do nails for the people who want their nails done her work is immaculate she’s really gifted with her hands if you want to see her work and would like to get your nails done if you’re in the state of Florida you can message her through her email [email protected]. What I think that sets me apart from others my passion and how I can do synthetic wigs and human hair wigs also my optimism makes me different in a way, I’m most proud of making my business and getting it off the ground a little bit I’m very glad to keep going to see where my business takes me and how much of an empire I’m going to build.
We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
I feel like all lessons are learned for a reason and everything you go through is for a reason I don’t think anybody should ever unlearn or disregard their mistakes because everything happens for a reason also pointing out that there’s a lesson for every mistake, that’s what makes you who you are.
Can you open up about how you funded your business?
How I funded my business was more so from surveys and an app called Ibotta, I can say I put in the time to grind and I hustled to get the money to pay for what big cartel(The site I used to make my business) was asking for, the money was slow but it helped and I’m glad I worked hard with something so little it showed me discipline it showed me how hard I would have to work for what I want my life to be like in my future. It’s going to take time and hard work I know it and I know God is with me so I’m here for the ride I know my journey is going to be fun and I’m ready to see where it takes me.
