We recently connected with Amanda Vezendy and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Amanda, thanks for joining us today. Parents can play a significant role in affecting how our lives and careers turn out – and so we think it’s important to look back and have conversations about what our parents did that affected us positive (or negatively) so that we can learn from the billions of experiences in each generation. What’s something you feel your parents did right that impacted you positively.
I am so excited to be able to shine some spotlight on my parents because they certainly deserve it! My parents raised me with the belief that I could do or be anything I wanted as long as I put the work in. They made sure to help me explore all my interests whether it was art, science, sports or entreprenurship. My parents would let me try, inevitably fail, have a melt down and then encourage me with their grade A pep talks. Those talks got me through some really tough times where I thought I was surely ruined and that my dreams were over. Now, as I still experience those moments in my life, I hear my father telling me to push through the finih line and scrap the brownie bowl clean. I am so thankful that I grew up with such supportive and fun parents who taught me how to move pass the hardships and keep striving for the dream.
It should be noted that my parents are also the ones who taught me the trade of my company- balloons and entertainment. I like to think that I have made my own path in my design taste and business structure but it all boils down to them as the seed that started it all. Not many people consider doing balloons as a business and I certainly never would if it wasn’t for them.
Whenever I am asked how I got into balloon twisting at an event I respond with “Long story short, odd parents” and I thinkk most people expect me to say clown school instead! All in all, I love my parents and could brag about them all day.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I provide two main services: Balloon twisting for entertainment and custom balloon decor. When it comes to balloon twisting I know well over 200 designs and will often times create new balloons on the spot by request. Balloon animals are quite the crowd pleaser whether I have a line of 50 kids waiting or I’m walking around to tables of drunk adults. There is just something magical about getting a balloon animal that will always make you smile. I have been doing balloon animals since I was in te third grade, when my parents learned two simple designs to be better sunday school teachers. From there we rented VHS tapes and would practice after school. I learned all the ups and downs of doing balloons animals at different events and how to make them as painless and popless as possible. Balloon decor really became a passion of mine during covid. I had only really done the standard archs and comlumns before but once all the festivals and events where shut down I was forced to adapt. Every balloon installation I learn someething new and it’s a skill that is constently improving. I pride myself on custom designs and going a bit out of the box. When a customer comes to me and has an event but needs ideas, I take the time to digitally mock up multiple ideas in multiple price zones with countless add ons so they can really feel like they have a hand in the art. My favorite installs are the one’s that allow me to do something I haven’t yet, there is a lot of trust in that relationship and that is why I love my clients.
I don’t think people realize all the times balloons can really add to an event until they see me there. Balloons can really elvate decorations and make the space feel fun, magical, and enveloping. Balloon animals are for all ages and not just children’s parties. No matter where I am, whether it’s a birthday party, brewery, or a festival, I will always have a line. I joke, but my line is longer then Santa’s every time.
What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
My clients happieness and recommendations has been the backbone of my business growth. When one business recommends me forward and they give me a chance at an event I end up with 20 plus new clients. No one knows they want balloons until they see them and photos of balloon animals just don’t do it justice. Every job I take on is an interview for all their friends, for their company, for their followers and for their neighbors. I try to preform keeping that in mind and making sure everyone at the event is happy with my work because everyone who sees my work is a potential client. My whole business took off because I struck up a conversation with a someone at a brewery and they gave my name to their boss at scofflaw brewing. Scofflaw has been a reocurring client who got my name in at The Works, Firemaker, Roundtrip and many other local businesses. I am now so well known at these locations that customers come to events early just to beat the line and get a balloon early. As much as instagram has helped show my work, word of mouth has always been the best source of new clients for me.

How do you keep in touch with clients and foster brand loyalty?
I follow my big clients and all of their upcoming events. I do my best to stay up to date and offer unique designs fit for each event. Alot of that is communicated through frquent emails but I make sure to visit my clients in person, support their business and share their events to all my friends. The best way I can think to fost brand loyalty is to offer fair prices, support the client’s business on a regular basis, and provide a stellar service.
