We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Amanda Threatt a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Amanda, thanks for joining us today. What do you think it takes to be successful?
I believe that be successful; you must have faith, a positive mindset, and be able to adapt to change. “Taking a leap of faith” is a saying that we have all heard or used in our life, personal or career related. Faith by definition is a belief that is not based on proof, so when you take that leap, you must believe you will be successful, or have faith. 2 Corinthians 5:7 says, “For we walk by faith, not by sight.”. Even though I can’t physically see God working in my life, I believe and know that he is guiding me and my success. You must maintain a positive attitude because you won’t always get your way and you will get told no more often than not. You can’t let the negativity get you down. Last but not least, you have to be able to adapt to change, especially in my industry. Change is inevitable and if you don’t embrace it, you can easily get stuck.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
When I moved to Atlanta, I was a District Sales Trainer. I have worked in the beauty industry and retail, managing and training multiple stores. My husband suggested I try selling real estate after I had our twins and that’s how I got here. I represent sellers, buyers, and investors and serve East Metro Atlanta. I spent the first few years of my career learning and making connections so I am able to connect my clients with some of the most highly regarded and successful partners and vendors in Metro Atlanta. Networking and creating relationships not only helps elevate your career, but helps your clients reach their end goal. What sets me apart from others is my relentless attitude and my strong faith. I will relentlessly work for my clients, if you want it, I want it just as bad, and I will help guide you with making the right decision for you. Philippians 2:4, “Not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others.” I love what I do and get great joy from helping others.
What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
Social Media has been the best source for finding new clients. I have done cold-calling, sent mailers, door-knocked, held community events and open houses, but spending a few hours on social media every day has proved to be the most successful way to reach and grow my sphere. We live in a time where no-one wants to answer their phone, hide when the door bell rings, and get our news from Tik-Tok. Using social media, people are able to see who I am and my values from the types of content I post. I share lots of resources and tips for buyers and sellers. My husband works in the film industry and is a Union member, so I share resources for them as they are part of my niche. I share the occasional post of my kids and family because my business is personalized. Social media is free, so I am able to save that money and spend it on other ways to benefit my business and attract clients.
What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
Creating informative and engaging social media content has been the most effective strategy. I try to create content that people want to watch and read as well as being informative. I share things about myself and my family to make the connection more personal. Viewing someones social media content is a great way to learn about them and decide if they are a good fit to work with.
