Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Amanda Shaffo. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Amanda, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Before we get into specifics, let’s talk about success more generally. What do you think it takes to be successful?
I believe that in order to be successful you need to reach out and hire a mentor; someone that is doing the same line of work as you and believes in spirituality and has a manifesting mindset and a positive outlook on life.
I did this by reaching out to a mentor in Tempe Arizona, where I had just moved from. I hired her to give me the confidence and support I needed to ask her questions and hold my hand virtually throughout the process. Carolyn Berry @- Clean Colonic has been an amazingly supportive woman that started her business at the same age as me and now has 4 locations in Arizona and is constantly on the news spreading the word on gut health.
I also went through NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming) therapy which enabled me to let go of limited beliefs surrounding my relationship with money and friends & recover from “people pleasing.” This empowered me with the confidence I needed to venture out into the world as a new business owner.
As a recovering “people pleaser” I had to push people away that where fear based and I kept my tribe small of people that I leaned on during this process.

Amanda, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My story and why colonics:
I have been getting colonics since I was in my early 20’s because I suffered from food and pollen allergies, I broke out with acne on a regular basis, I was severely constipated, had terrible migraines, experienced horrendous cramps while on my period and weekly bouts of acid reflex. I was so bloated that people often mistook me as someone who was pregnant, which became an increasingly stressful occurrence since I find out I couldn’t have children.
I felt “stuck” and I didn’t know how to listen to my body or my intuition. I was suffering silently from all these symptoms and had no ideas or direction on where to start healing my body from the inside-out. Years of seeking advice from medical specialists and even therapists took me nowhere…. *For the full story go to: About the Owner (healingcolonics.com)
Colonics helped me start the process of releasing the fecal matter and the stuck energy in my body and cells. It took me eight (8) sessions to see any fecal matter come out on the closed colonic system. I was, however, less bloated, having less gas and over-all more comfortable feeling in my body, so I never looked back.
Fast forward 20 years…. I intuitively recognized that my corporate job was no longer fulfilling my purpose and zest for life. I was also off all prescription medications, which were mainly for anxiety and bladder infections. I cleared these symptoms and got in touch with my body with regular colonics, juicing celery daily, eating mindfully, incorporating yoga, learning meditation, and discovering NLP (Neuro Linguistics Programming) coaching sessions to clear some “limited beliefs” that I didn’t even realize I had.
I had reached this fork in the road, where I knew that I couldn’t keep spinning my wheels on the corporate ladder. I wanted to do something I was passionate about, something I believed in and could stand behind. So, I went back to school. got certified as a colon hydrotherapist and opened my own practice in Boulder, Colorado.
My goal is to bring humor back to awareness on pooping and the discussion on the gut health being tied to more dis-ease in the body and hold space for my clients to “let shit go” and start to love their bodies and understand that holistic well being is important for the mind-body-spirit connection.
I recently joined a BNI (Business Networking International) Group and my tagline is “letting shit go and toxins is the best thing for your gut health.”
How did you build your audience on social media?
My favorite word is “Congruence.” Congruence in NLP is when a behavior (words, tonality, physiology etc) matches the words and actions a person says and does. It is rapport with oneself, or internal and external consistency, perceived by others as sincerity or certainty.
I had a client when I first started that bought a 10 pack from me, they came in for a few sessions and then disappeared. My intuition told me to post a live of me getting a colonic on my social media page. I have built my IG with clients and networking peers. I decided that to be congruent was to be in action of what I do for a living. I always thought I should be on a billboard sharing my love for colonics and the next best thing was to post a live. This was done with trapped gas as well as regular fecal matter coming out to be shown on the view tube for my social media audience. Shortly, after posting the live this person came back in and said, “MAN, I knew when you posted that live, that you were not only talking about your love for colonics, but you were showing your audience the action behind that.” This person confirmed that by posting lives on social media it was breaking down the barrier of what a colonic is, and they completed their 10 pack in ease.
Your privacy is always protected in my office, this is a safe place to come heal form the inside out and relax into the process of letting shit go! f
My advice to new business owners is…. to always be your authentic self and post what you love and post you doing what you love to draw people into the law of attraction.

What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
“Word of mouth” is the best way for clients to see me after someone they know has come and received the services I provide. I believe all of my clients are my ‘walking advertisement’ wither it be locally or across the state lines. I would say clients and then social media has played a big role on getting my business out there as well as the BNI (Business Networking International) -Velocity group- of dynamic positive energetic entrepreneurs that uplift each other and support each other by getting the services themselves or sharing on social media.
I agree with Lisa Smith owner of (CCDC- Colorado Colonic & Detox Center)
“There are enough butts to go around!” This is powerful manifesting abundance mindset.
