My journey began under the spotlight of the Sunset Strip– my story is one of transformation—from dreaming of being a movie star to becoming a star maker. Yes, my side hustle did indeed become my main stage.

Picture this: by day, an aspiring actress and filmmaker; by night, balancing the nocturnal life of a bartender. The late nights were a stark contrast to the early morning auditions and the schedule essential for an artist in Los Angeles. So, I had to make a change, I had to come up with another way of making money. My side hustle? A foray into the world of promotions and event planning, a skill I honed not in classrooms but in the vibrant trenches of the Sunset Strip, supporting the dreams of musicians I admired and also sometimes dated.

Music, the undercurrent of my saga, the muse of my tale, marked a pivotal chapter in my evolution. As the enthusiastic, supportive girlfriend to my partners’ music careers during my twenties. Working to promote their live shows at concert halls in West Hollywood and their music online, I mastered the art of promotion and event planning. Creating flyers and drumming up crowds became my forte, a skill born from love and necessity. What started as a gesture of support quietly morphed into a passion project of my own.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?

I embarked on this journey without a roadmap, navigating the public relations landscape without the compass of a previous PR firm experience or the luxury of advanced software tools like Cision or Muckrack. Each journalist’s contact, each pitch, was mined through relentless Google searches, turning what could be a 2-hour task for others into a 16-hour marathon for me. Yet, I persevered, fueled by an unwavering commitment to grow my lists, follow up diligently, and forge genuine connections.

My path was fraught with challenges, from confronting skepticism about my capabilities—often underscored by gender biases—to competing with larger PR firms armed with extensive resources. Despite these hurdles, my approach remained anchored in care, consideration, and authenticity. I tailored strategies for each client with meticulous attention, championing their cause as if it were my own.

Samoyloff PR stands today not just as a testament to my personal tenacity but as a beacon of collective resilience. My small, yet formidable team embodies the same work ethic and ethos that guided me through those early days of struggle.
