We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Amanda Rurik. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Amanda below.
Amanda, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today. Was there a defining moment in your professional career? A moment that changed the trajectory of your career?
I was always interested in health. I worked out, ate well, and had good routines in place. I did struggle with thyroid issues early on in college and was given prescriptions to help, however I still felt symptoms – cold hands & feet, hair loss, weight hanging around my midsection. Those never went away. It didn’t really bother me at the time and I was enjoying life. Later on, I became a mom to a boy who is now almost 7. As he got older and had some health concerns, I grew more interested in holistic health and natural practices. I explored, researched, and made a few lifestyle changes. The remedies I was trying helped, but never resolved the issues completely. A few years later, I had another son. It wasn’t until I was in my second postpartum era that I experienced bigger health symptoms. Things like uncontrollable anxiety, mood swings, PMS, acne, hair loss, and bloating. Yes, some of those naturally happen because of the shift in hormones that come with having a baby, but I knew this was deeper rooted. When I asked my doctor about the things I was experiencing, I felt so dismissed. It was a quick, “we can prescribe you this and that” without asking any questions. I didn’t want to take medications and I wanted to know WHY these things were happening. This really was the point in time when I knew that there was something more to explore, research, and do. I dipped my toes into root cause healing and really enjoyed what I was learning. So, I started my venture into learning holistic health at a deeper level and became certified in health coaching, functional testing, and root cause healing. I learned so much through the journey that I put my knowledge to use and started to make even more changes in my life. Over the course of 6 months and then a year, my anxiety is completely gone, my acne is cleared, I have no more PMS or bloating. My immune system has improved, my sleep is better, and my relationships are closer. I wouldn’t be where I am today without diving into holistic health and the knowledge that I learned.
Amanda, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Yes, absolutely! I am a wife and mom of 2 wonderful boys and we call Tennessee home. We have traveled a lot in the last few years and have met so many wonderful people along the way. As our family has grown, we have experienced our own personal health challenges. This really fueled my deeper passion to find natural remedies to support our bodies and understand how the human body works. We have healed individually and as a family. And now, I am so lucky to be able to share this with so many wonderful women across the country.
I help moms rebalance their hormones, regain energy, and lose stubborn weight without restrictive eating, tons of exercise, or losing time with their families. I do this by incorporating lifestyle changes and weaving in education into my program. I want women to feel empowered to take control of their health and not be confused or feel forced into medications or stuck with symptoms that they just have to deal with. I focus on the mind and body when healing for true comprehensive health.
I want other moms to know that I too have walked a tough road and have a past, we all do. You aren’t broken. You can heal and support your body and mind for a strong future. With all the trauma I have personally gone through, I can say that everything happens for a reason. And for me, I feel like I went through what I did, to be able to empathize with others and be their biggest cheerleader. The reason I bring this up is because we often miss mental and emotional health in our healing journey. We just focus on the weight we want to lose or the PMS we don’t want to have. This is totally valid. But, if we want to have lasting results of getting rid of these symptoms, we have to look at our mindset, processing emotions, and nervous system health as well. This is one of the biggest lessons that I have learned in all of my experiences. I want to be able to share this with as many people as possible because I want everyone to have access to a healthy mind, body, and outlook on life. I want moms to have a solid foundation and the educate to advocate for themselves and their families. I want women to know that they don’t need to carry the stress of the world on their shoulders and it’s okay to have healthy boundaries. It has been a true honor to help the women I have so far, and I want it to be my life’s mission to help as many as I can. With my company, I am living out my dream and what I believe is my life’s purpose.
If you could go back in time, do you think you would have chosen a different profession or specialty?
I would 100% choose this career path again. My only regret is that I didn’t start sooner. When I am with my clients, I don’t feel like I am working at all, and the hours disappear. I could learn and create educational content for my followers all day. When people say do the thing that you love most, this is it for me! From talking to hundreds of people, connecting, hearing others’ stories, sharing my knowledge, and helping fellow mommas heal, I am so grateful to be where I am.
Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
I came from a long list of traumas that started as a young kid. As I got older, it was easier for me to stay busy or simply push people away. I was always labeled as the one who had a tough exterior around them. I went to therapy over the years which I do believe helped, but I still had a hard time letting people in or really acknowledging how I was feeling. This turned into wanting to be busy with work, activities, or exercising in order to not have to feel all the pain. So, fast forward into my healing journey – I really had to unlearn the go-go lifestyle and pushing down emotions. I was so busy and had so many things going on that it was more convenient to not feel emotions at times and other times it was too painful to deal with, so I didn’t. This also created a very dysregulated nervous system. By learning how to slow down and process my emotions I was able to be more present and create lasting health. Repressed emotions and stuck emotions are very real, and I think it’s sad that our society really pushes us toward this. There is a lot of talk about generational healing and the more I am intentional about my own emotions and regulating my nervous system, I can see how it also translates into my own families’ emotional health. The more people know and understand this, the more people I truly believe can heal and have lasting effects for generations to come.
