We were lucky to catch up with Amanda Rose recently and have shared our conversation below.
Amanda, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today What’s the backstory behind how you came up with the idea for your business?
I started in the dating industry 14 years ago after going through a divorce. While married to my ex I had suspicions he was online dating. So, I went searching for his profile and as I was looking for it, I thought wow how are these men getting dates, there should be a business that helps them look dateable and date successfully. I ended up finding my ex’s online dating profile in that search. And needless to say, we got a divorce. I went from being a stay-at-home mom to a single mom overnight and knew I needed a way to provide for my children. So, I took that little idea and decided to turn it into a business that created online dating profile makeovers for singles. I knew I had something when a producer for the Steve Harvey show contacted me to do a segment on online dating profile makeovers. They found my new twitter page and I didn’t even have a client yet. That little idea blossomed into a nationwide business. I was the first to offer such personalized services in the matchmaking industry. That first business also led to a regional coordinator position with an international matchmaking agency. However, I didn’t feel like their matchmaking process was personalized enough and decided to branch off on my own and created my current businesses the Dating Boutique – a dating consultancy, Prestige Connections – a luxury matchmaking agency and Swoon Me Events – a curated singles event company. My award winning companies are nationally recognized and have been featured in numerous media since that little idea in 2012.
Amanda, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Prestige Connections is a luxury matchmaking agency. We handpick and vet personalized highly compatible matches for our clients. Dating Boutique is a dating consultancy that creates resources, date coaching, courses, and more to help singles date successfully, heal from a heartbreak, and enjoy the journey of being single.
I’m known as the southern celebrity matchmaker. My matchmaking clients are high-profile, high-quality singles that are looking for love. What sets me apart from others is the matching process and success rate. Our matching process is very personalized, customized, and created to help create long-term healthy relationships.
One of the things I’m most proud of regarding my brand is I was also named one of the top celebrity matchmakers and dating coaches in the world. We have a 100% success rate with all of our date coaching clients. I love seeing the transformation of our coaching clients and the success they experience. I’m also proud of all the relationships and connections we’ve created over the years.
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
Most people stop pursuing their dreams and goals when an obstacle appears. Instead of getting discouraged I look at that obstacle as a learning experience and have a no excuse attitude. I started the business as a single mom working 4 other jobs just to get by. I had a vision for a better future for my children with more time/financial freedom. It’s important to Learn how to overcome the impossible and keep moving forward. I promise when you continue to do this with each obstacle you’ll reach success and become resilient. Truly anything is possible if you have the right mindset, determination and a go getters attitude
Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
I had to unlearn looking for others approval. Some of the closest people to you won’t understand or support your dream. You have to learn not to take it personally and chase after your dreams despite the critics. To this day some of my family doesn’t understand what I do or support my goals. You have to keep your eyes on the prize and ignore any background noise around you. If I listened to the critics I wouldn’t be where I am today.
