We recently connected with Amanda Rachel and have shared our conversation below.
Amanda , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Can you talk to us about how you’ve thought about whether to sign with an agent or manager?
I have a wonderful agent in Atlanta, GA, my first exclusive agency in the Southeast. I actually met her during a workshop weekend at an acting school where she was the guest agent reviewing our work. After the session, I sent a blind follow-up email to two different addresses: one for the agency and one that I thought might be her personal email. I wasn’t even sure the personal one would work, but I got lucky.
Even though she didn’t choose to pursue me after the showcase, I still asked if we could set up a meeting. That was me taking a chance and betting on myself. On paper, I knew I wasn’t the “ideal” actor an agent would typically go for. I had no real credits yet, mostly background work, no strong headshots, and my materials definitely needed work. But I’ve always said: if I can get in the room, I can secure the job. And this was no different.
Why I chose her:
I wanted to work with her because she had that boutique style approach. I was still new and wanted to be somewhere that truly developed its actors. She offered more than representation she offered guidance, growth, and a hands on partnership, which I really valued.
Why she chose me:
By the time we met, I had done my research, came in with a game plan, and made sure she knew I was serious. I may not have had the credits, but I never stopped training, and I carried myself with ambition, professionalism, and a willingness to learn. That combination was enough to convince her to take a chance on me.
Our meeting sealed it for both of us. We clicked immediately, and the rest is history. I later became her assistant for a year and a half, which gave me an even deeper understanding of the industry. I led workshops, worked on short films, and helped developed so many new talents. I’m truly grateful to still be working with her.

Amanda , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I’m an actress, host, coach, comedian, and content creator with a big love for storytelling and people. I grew up in a Caribbean household in the Bronx, and entertainment was always a part of my life. I didn’t professionally pursue acting until I moved to Florida in 2017 and booked A Raisin in the Sun at the Polk Theater in Lakeland, Florida. That experience made me realize that I wanted to pursue acting professionally. The true pivotal moment, though, came later when I aligned my life with God and His purpose for me. Once I understood that acting was a vessel God blessed me to use, everything in my journey shifted. My confidence, my direction, and the way I moved in my calling all became clearer.
Today, I work across acting, comedy, hosting, coaching, and content creation. I am known for my charismatic, spunky personality, my improv instincts, and my ability to bring honesty, humor, and heart into every space. I show up with authenticity and joy.
I created The Amanda Edge, my personal brand and business. It allows me to pour into people who want to break into the industry or grow from their current position. I help others discover and walk boldly in their own edge through insight, coaching, and guidance.
What sets me apart is that I’ve lived this journey from multiple angles, as an actor, as someone who has trained consistently, and even as an assistant to my agent. I know the industry from both sides of the table. But more importantly, I lead with purpose, professionalism, and faith. My goal isn’t just to book roles, it’s to steward my calling well and make people feel something meaningful along the way.
I’m most proud of my growth and my obedience. From having no credits and no confidence to becoming a working actress grounded in faith and discipline, I’m grateful for every step God ordered. And what I want potential clients, followers, and supporters to know is this: my work is rooted in authenticity, excellence, and purpose. Everything I do is intentionally aligned with who God has called me to be.
If you’re following my journey or partnering with me, expect honesty, creativity, heart, and a whole lot of personality all anchored in faith. My edge is God-given, and I’m here to help others walk boldly in theirs, too.

Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
A major pivot in my life came when I realized that the career I loved was actually limiting the career I was called to. I worked in education for four years as a teacher, and I truly loved child development. It was what I went to college for, and for a long time I thought that was my path. But once I decided to pursue entertainment more seriously, I started to notice how much my teaching schedule was holding me back. I couldn’t make auditions, I couldn’t be on set, and even simple opportunities weren’t possible because my students needed me. I had to be honest with myself. I could either stay in an environment that was hindering my dreams, or I could step out on faith and make a real change.
My pivot came in 2020 during COVID. That season gave me the chance to try something new, so I left the classroom and moved into entrepreneurship. I worked as a personal assistant, I nannied for almost a year, and I found different ways to make income that didn’t pull me away from pursuing my goals. It wasn’t always easy, but it was necessary. That pivot pushed my career forward in ways staying in teaching never could have.
Eventually, about two years after leaving education, I was able to find a full-time remote job that gave me both stability and flexibility. Now I can pursue acting, coaching, and content creation without sacrificing my livelihood. None of that would have happened if I hadn’t trusted God, stepped out on faith, and been willing to pivot when my purpose required it.

Are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?
YES. The Amanda Edge.
Honestly, that is the exact resource I wish existed when I first started.
Back then I was just out here spending money on things I didn’t need, taking every class someone whispered about, and trying to figure it all out with zero guidance. If The Amanda Edge had been around, I would’ve saved time, money, stress, and at least three emotional breakdowns.
But on a serious note, education truly was the best resource for me. Classes, workshops, volunteering at events just so I could learn for free, all of that was the foundation of my growth.
