We recently connected with Amanda Poulsen and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Amanda thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Can you share a customer success story with us?
When trying to gain access to our new commercial building, we requested a few letters of recommendation from the community we have brought together. Here are a few paragraphs I have selected from their letters as a testament to our rescue work.
“Rocky Mountain Avian Rescue plays such an important role in the community to an ever-growing problem with parrots that find themselves stranded and homeless by no fault of their own. I can’t say a single negative thing about them… and I hold very, very high standards when it comes to animal husbandry. My life has been significantly changed for the better since the addition of my three little conures. I am forever grateful for the hard work and passion that the Poulsen’s consistently exhibit for the greater good. Both human and bird.” -Krystal Quaal
“RMAR has not just changed my life for the better, but I know for a fact they have changed the lives of several people and the lives of these remarkable birds. Their tireless efforts in rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming parrots is nothing short of remarkable. These birds go from being unwanted, and unloved to safe, cherished, and adored. The mark that RMAR leaves on the community is traditionally unquantifiable, but it is extremely palpable.” -Lindsey Stiborek
“We have watched them bring back birds from the brink of death, to a point where they are happy, playful, and ready to be adopted into a loving home. I don’t know how much money they have spent in vet bills, but they do it regularly, and out of their own pocket. In addition, they have become a resource to bird lovers everywhere.” -Mike & Michelle Daugherty
Reading these letters from our community is not just a testament to our success, but it also speaks volumes about the love and compassion we’ve dedicated to our mission as a whole.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
When building our rescue’s social media, it was like starting with an empty aviary – quiet and waiting for life. We initiated our journey by consistently sharing stories, heartwarming moments, and the challenges we faced. Being authentic became our compass, as we shared the genuine passion behind our rescue efforts.
Engagement was crucial. We responded promptly to comments, asked questions, and encouraged our audience to share their thoughts. Collaborations with influencers and other animal welfare advocates amplified our reach, bringing in new followers who aligned with our mission.
As advice for those starting on social media, I would emphasize authenticity and consistency. Share genuine stories, showcase the impact of your work, and stay true to your mission. Consistent posting, timely responses, and asking the audience to engage will help increase visibility. Building a community takes time, so be patient and have meaningful connections with your audience. Remember, social media is a powerful tool for building support and awareness when used with passion and purpose.
Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
