We were lucky to catch up with Amanda Patrizz recently and have shared our conversation below.
Amanda , appreciate you joining us today. Coming up with the idea is so exciting, but then comes the hard part – executing. Too often the media ignores the execution part and goes from idea to success, skipping over the nitty, gritty details of executing in the early days. We think that’s a disservice both to the entrepreneurs who built something amazing as well as the public who isn’t getting a realistic picture of what it takes to succeed. So, we’d really appreciate if you could open up about your execution story – how did you go from idea to execution?
I’ve been a bartender for nine years, in 2022 it was a slow Thursday day shift and I was asked to bartend for a private birthday party. He said he would pay me $200, it was his wife’s 40th birthday and it was a bunch of their family and friends. So with the $200 I bought myself a bunch of bar tools I spent around $100 and worked four hours and made an extra $300 in tips. So then I thought that I could make this a business, I could in hopes one day completely work for myself and not have to work in a bar much longer. My daughter and I lived alone since she was under one and bartending has made sure the bills were paid and we had everything we needed. So after researching what I needed to be able to work in venues, I got all my licensing and pulled an insurance policy out on myself for Liquor Liability and was now able to bartend at any venue and I named my company Barmaidz. My first year in business, I was getting booked quite often and I was really surprised because it was my first year. It was going so good that I brought my best friend on and we were both just bartending everywhere in Central Florida with just bar tools. Fast forward to 2023 was a little bit slower for business, I was now planning a wedding for 2024 and still getting booked but not as much as 2023, I just took a little bit of a step back to focus on my family. In 2024, I decided to completely up Barmaidz to not just bartending but to so much more. In 2024 we bought – 2 Photo Booths, a bar trailer, a portable bar, brought walking cannolis to central Florida named Mafia Sweets, and a snack cart we named Temptationz that crafts Charcuterie boards, mini pancakes, and churros. From August 2024 to December, we were completely booked every weekend. Sometimes even seven events a weekend, we were very busy and blessed business was going well. We renamed the company to Barmaidz Entertainment Co. and now business has been steady and 2025 is our first official year in business with all our services.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
What sets Barmaidz apart from the others is the flexibility we offer. We are your family owned business who understands parties can be very expensive, especially if you have kids and are just trying to build your life. I started this company as a single mom and I’ve always been affordable to everyone because I want to be at their party and know I gave them a good deal and still put food on my table, I never overcharge. I’m a hard working mom who has always worked 2-3 jobs and wanted to start a company that would make me money and keep me home more with my daughter. Barmaidz has been able to do that since the start and I’m grateful for everyone who has booked me. I take a lot of time into my work to make sure their party runs smoothly when they book my packages.

Can you talk to us about how you funded your business?
Hard earned cash from bartending was the way I completely funded my business, I have no debt, not one single credit card. Everything Barmaidz has is paid for cash.

Do you have any insights you can share related to maintaining high team morale?
My team of 11 women is all my bestfriends and people I worked with at bars. They are truly an amazing group of women I trust and are amazing bestfriends to have.
