We were lucky to catch up with Amanda Nelson recently and have shared our conversation below.
Amanda, appreciate you joining us today. What was it like going from idea to execution? Can you share some of the backstory and some of the major steps or milestones?
Unfortunately, there is no secret sauce to taking an idea from its infantile phase and going directly to execution other than just starting. Even if you have no idea where to start, any action is better than none. When I was working on my first product, ( the 60 Days Away guided journal) I took my own personal experience on what I would want to see in a product and started iterating on different guided prompts, activations, lists, and other journal necessities, until it was something I was happy with. There I did a lot of Google research, designing, illustrating, and figuring out the proper layout that would work best for my ideal audience. I wanted it to be something that did it take a long time, but packed a big punch and change your entire outlook for the day before it even begins. All of this took a few months, and then I did a bit more research on how to get my product on Amazon, fulfillment centers, shipping, manufacturing, publishing, and printing. I found it best to self publish this journal, and ended up launching about eight months after my very first journal iteration. Looking back now, it was far from perfect, but I am glad that I was able to introduce it to the world as it is now helping thousands of people from all over.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers

Through her own trials and hardships, she relied on journaling to help reset her mindset, and strive for new goals while staying accountable to them. That is when 60 Days Away was born.
The perfect way to build positive habits for more happiness, success, and productivity. Each daily journal spread includes prompts to track and record your goals, intentions, gratitude lists, affirmations, stresses, water intake, and activities, and then reflect on the impact those things had on your energy level throughout the day while releasing what no longer serves you.
The guided prompts in 60 Days Away are specifically designed to help you become more confident and positive in life by consistently practicing gratitude and introducing simple yet powerful life-enhancing habits. (hell yeah)
On day one you will start to rewire your brain to say goodbye to anxiety, stress, and burn out. You’ll learn how to break the vicious cycle of destructive habits, and replace them with methods to create lasting, positive ones.
Amanda is working on her next wellness product and will be bringing it to market this fall.
What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
TikTok. Hands Down. That platform has a way of getting your content in front of your target audience’s eyes in a way that others simply do not. Could have five followers and if you create a great video and use the correct hashtags that video could very well get 10 million views, which is different than what we’re seeing on other platforms where you already have to have a large audience in order for that to happen. I started a TikTok account for my business the same day I started an Instagram account, the Instagram account for reference has about 740 followers and the TikTok account has about 8720 currently. Double down on TikTok while it is still hot!
How’d you think through whether to sell directly on your own site or through a platform like Amazon, Etsy, Cratejoy, etc.
I sell on my own site, and I also have an Amazon sellers account. The Amazon seller account is where I receive most of my revenue/income. And what I sell on my site is more supplemental, and gives people an option to purchase if they do not want to support Amazon. That is something that I learned later on (not everyone loves amazon) this is a good way for me to still be able to offer the products, with free shipping, as well as a digital, fillable journal that people are able to instantly download. The benefits of Amazon speak for themselves, I do not have to go to the post office every single day, and the fulfillment is fantastic. Not only do they have faster shipping speeds that I would be able to provide alone, (some days they can deliver in 1 day/overnight. Can’t beat it!) But it also gives me a platform to be able to sell and different countries if I so choose without having to worry about laws as they do that internally.
