We recently connected with Amanda Mullins and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Amanda, thanks for joining us today. Coming up with the idea is so exciting, but then comes the hard part – executing. Too often the media ignores the execution part and goes from idea to success, skipping over the nitty, gritty details of executing in the early days. We think that’s a disservice both to the entrepreneurs who built something amazing as well as the public who isn’t getting a realistic picture of what it takes to succeed. So, we’d really appreciate if you could open up about your execution story – how did you go from idea to execution?
I knew I always wanted to be my own boss so I got a job at a professional cleaning company and learned the trade. From there I go my first client by word of mouth. I also started advertising on a free app that a friend told me about. I had to post often at first and at times I felt I wasn’t getting anywhere but little by little things started moving. I was so excited to be making so much money and hour. I felt very proud of myself and felt accomplished. I didn’t want to ever let that feeling go.

Amanda, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I am a hard working mom and grandma. I have always worked hard and showed my kids good work ethic pays off. To never stop dreaming and go for your dreams and to not give up. I find that cleaning is something I like to do. Make things look nice and clean. Organizing is fun for me so why not help people destress about getting organized while I’m having fun. I am determined to keep going building my business by talking to others everyday about what I do and see if I can help them or someone they know. I enjoy seeing the faces of my clients after I am done helping them organize. You can just see the relief on their faces and see it in their body. Same with cleaning clients. It just makes them feel better. I am most proud that I never stopped going after having my own business and now my son has followed in those footsteps. We are working together now helping each other building our thriving businesses. It doesn’t matter your background or where you come from. If you think it you can make it happen. I provide services that help people feel better about their homes and helps them feel less stress.

What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
Being extremely dependable and up front and honest with all my clients and potential clients. I can now walk into a quote and feel if it’s going to be a good fit or not.
What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
I advertise on a free app and my client has been promoting me and teela others about me.
