Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Amanda Moser. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Amanda, thanks for joining us today. It’s always helpful to hear about times when someone’s had to take a risk – how did they think through the decision, why did they take the risk, and what ended up happening. We’d love to hear about a risk you’ve taken.
One of the biggest risks I’ve ever taken in life was deciding to pursue my dreams. To create a career focusing on cannabis is sex is ultimately choosing a career that some consider controversial and taboo. How cannabis influences one’s sex is not widely studied and I am one of the only researchers who have dedicated their career to the intersection of cannabis science and human sexuality. While this gives me many opportunities to create something that has never been done before, the risk of this is not having an established path that has already been paved by others. The goal of taking this risk is to create the space to expand the current knowledge of human sexuality and cannabis research. Ultimately, I am proud to be where I am and to do what I love.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I am a Sexologist and Cannabis Researcher who has spent over 10 years in academic research and have conducted a nationwide study on how cannabis influences one’s sexual functioning and satisfaction. Weed Love Sex, LLC was created to allow me to offer educational services, presentations, and consultations for all audiences who want to learn more about cannabis and sex.
While I am most recognized for how cannabis can influence your sex, I also educate and research on cannabis science and various aspects of human sexuality, such as anatomy, communication, and overall sexual pleasure. Many of my clients vary from new cannabis users to couples that want to learn how to enhance their sex with cannabis.
Have you ever had to pivot?
When I started college, I wasn’t sure what my career path would be. I have always had a strong sense of love for animals, so I figured I’d direct that passion and plan to work with animals. Though I quickly realized that I didn’t want to be a veterinarian and wasn’t sure what I actually wanted to do as a career. Seridipidiously, at this time, I was taking an elective course that I thought was only going to fulfill my social science requirements. Little did I know that this class would change the entire trajectory of my education and career. This class was an introductory course to what would later become my specialization: human sexuality. I was introduced to a world of possibilities that I was excited to indulge myself in.
I made another slight pivot in graduate school when I furthered my studies on cannabis science and ultimately focused my career on how cannabis influences one’s sexual functioning and satisfaction. These pivots are what got to where I am today, and for that, I am grateful.
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
I am proud that my career and specialty is something that nobody else is doing and I believe that this greatly helps build my reputation within the market. I know that I can educate and inform various audiences on a topic that many have never heard or considered before. To be different is a bold undertaking that should be celebrated and encouraged. I will never let anyone dim my flame and I am not scared to blaze my own trail.
