We were lucky to catch up with Amanda Liford recently and have shared our conversation below.
Amanda, appreciate you joining us today. Do you have any advice regarding quality control and maintaining quality as your brand grows?
Easy Life Organizing was never really meant to become a full-time business. But as I grew, I knew that quality & processes needed to be a HUGE priority for me. My unique experience in the automotive manufacturing industry helped me to create streamlined processes, quality control checks, and training materials that have been instrumental as we grow. All team members have a start & end of shift checklist, there is a very specific way we go about decluttering with clients, we have training at least once a quarter, and all of our Organizing Champions (Leads), go through a detailed training process over the course of a couple of months instead of throwing them right into the fire.
It was really important to me that no matter if it’s a team member’s first or 20th week, the quality of work is consistent for the client. The processes, checklists, and training all help to empower our people to know what to do each step along the way.
My advice for those looking to preserve their quality as they grow is to record all their processes. That way when you’re ready to have more help, you have something to train with and can look for ways to make things more streamlined.
Amanda, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My name is Amanda. I’m a wife, mom, and founder of Easy Life Organizing. Easy Life Organizing is a professional organizing company that provides decluttering and organizing services for homes, businesses, and digital spaces. Our specialty is creating customized solutions that fit our client’s needs and the way they live their life to keep life as easy as possible. We are here to give them guidance, support, resources, and a lasting change. No two people are the same, so why should the same organizing solution work for everyone? We are a team and this allows us to get projects done faster.
Can you talk to us about how your side-hustle turned into something more.
I did not plan for this business to become a full-time job. When I worked in automotive manufacturing, I learned about Lean Systems and 5s. The combination of this, learning to stage a home, and watching Marie Kondo’s new show made me realize this could be a business I start. It took finally getting fed up with my full-time job in the summer of 2021 to decide to put all my time and energy into the business to make it successful. After the summer of 2022, I was finally able to quit and pursue being a full-time business owner.
Any advice for managing a team?
To foster high morale within my team, I make sure I’m consistently thinking of their experience or what it is like for them. I’m a very open and transparent person with my team and they respect that. Without them I would not be here so I try to make sure I’m catering the things I do to what they need.
