Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Amanda Knowles. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Amanda, thanks for joining us today. Let’s start with the story of your mission. What should we know?
A special Portrait Experience celebrating the strength, power, emotions and beauty one goes through on your pregnancy journey. I invite mamas to celebrate themself just as they are. Because every mama needs some extra love this year.
Women who are pregnant are an extremely underrepresented group and it’s time to start a conversation about the beauty of pregnancy. We need to change the way the work and social media defines it and to embrace the freedom and confidence about finally being comfortable and sexy in your own skin with your baby bump.
We love to show the world what your maternity glow looks like and help you to embrace your beauty just as you are because you are art. Mamas, you deserve to capture the magical journey of your pregnancy and feel beautiful in the body you are in.
There has never been a more documented time then now for one to be an expecting mother.
– Lets celebrate your beautiful glow and appreciate every little belly hiccup, baby kick, every day you strengthen your new bond between you and your baby together
– We will transform the way you see yourself
– Each journey is unique and deserves to the shared with others especially first time moms
This is your time to share with others. A time to be seen and head. We help mamas share their pregnancy journey through beautiful portraits featuring them as art.
Many people ask me “Why Pregnant Mamas?” Well it’s simple….Many women find themselves sacrificing so much for their significant others, their children and careers, that by the time the new baby arrives, they haven’t done anything for themselves in years. At the same time pregnant women are strong enough to realize that happiness doesn’t exist within a certain shape or size and that beauty is limitless in all body types when you are both pregnant and post-partum. And most important they deserve it!!
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
Hi! I am Amanda @ Knowles Photography. I specialize in luxury maternity and newborn portrait experiences they are unique just like each mama and baby are. No need to have the same pictures and outfits as your friends. We are all made differently and experience our own journey through pregnancy and birth. Capturing these once in a lifetime moments for each mama and helping them to see themselves as the beautiful person they are even during pregnancy is such an empowering moment for them to embrace. Many times tears are shed during their personalized reveal appointment when they get to see their pictures for the first time.
Moms and babies have always been a love of mine since I was a kid. I was also the kid that always had a camera in hand constantly taking pictures everywhere I went of anything that sparked my interest. After graduating college a friend of mine was the one who mentioned to me that I should become a photographer since I love it so much. And I did and I have not looked back since. Merging my two loves together and creating a unique client experience for my clients consantly brings me joy and happiness whenever the camera is in my hand.
Have you ever had to pivot?
Many times photographers are known for shooting anything and everything. I quickly learned after shooting a few weddings and parties that I did not love shooting those type of sessions. It is always hard to say no when friends or past clients that you love working with ask you if you would shoot something that is outside of your speciality or that doesn’t bring you joy.
I have learned that it is okay to say no. What I do along with saying no is I now provide referrals to fellow photographers who do specialize in those sessions that I do not shoot anymore. Those people actually respect you more for providing help to another solution vs just saying no and nothing else. It will be okay. I promise. Bless and release and I promise the good deeds of helping others will always be returned one way or another. Helping clients connect with the right photographer for their needs and it also blesses another photographer to gain a session for their books in their speciality.
We’d love to hear about how you keep in touch with clients.
Keeping in touch with your clients is an important aspect in photography as you always want to keep them wanting more and remembering your name first for when they have a photography need. A few ways I can share with you to help you maintain a good customer loyalty are listed below.
1. Good communication with your clients throughout. Before the sessions provide clients with drip emails that are informative and help them prepare for their session and what to expect from you. Your goal should be to inform them before they have to reach out to you and ask. Some ideas for these would be what to wear guides, session preparation, what to expect, and FAQ.
2. Monthly emails are a great way to constantly stay connected with your clients. You can let them know if you have any promotions going on. Remind clients about availability you have remaining for the month. At the bottom of the emails it is always a great reminder to invite your clients to follow along on your different social media platforms.
3. Social media is another great way to connect with your clients. Videos are very popular right now so constantly posting engaging content that keeps your clients and follower following along in your journey helps to keep you in the forefront of their minds. Content can be showing behind the scenes of your sessions, editing video of you working, before and afters of clients glow up, tips for parents, showcase new products, etc.
4. Asking clients for reviews or testimonies are always helpful for your brand loyalty. You can feature reviews or testimonies as a post, reel, on your website and on your google page. Potential clients will read them to help ensure they are making the right choice for their photographer needs. When asking for reviews from your clients it is okay to ask them and guide them to what to focus on in their review. For example you can ask them to leave a review speaking to their experience that helps other first time parents searching for the right photographer for their maternity and newborn needs.
I hope these help you to strengthen your brand and client loyalty.
