We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Amanda Jade. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Amanda below.
Amanda, appreciate you joining us today. To kick things off, we’d love to hear about things you or your brand do that diverge from the industry standard
I offer a space for folks to be supported emotionally, spiritually, mentally & physically through their hair journey & all that it encompasses.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
Sure, I have been a licensed cosmetologist since 2009. I chose to get into the hair industry because I loved the creativity, being able provide service to folks and adding additional joy to my clients lives through hair. As I began to build my practice I seen that there was much more that people were seeking beyond their hair, that hair was just the icing on the cake and that most people require a safe space to be seen, heard and intentional care and that is what my work is all about.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
Before I opened my shop and decided to make hair my full source of income I was simultaneously doing hair while working at a well known warehouse where I had worked for fourteen years. They provided free insurance, they were union and provided job security, but my mental health was declining because although it offered all of those things it did not feed my spirit. The pandemic hit in 2020, alongside the shutdowns & I was forced to solely work in the warehouse. This time showed me that that life, although honorable for so many, was just not fulfilling enough for me. I had began to reflect on why I had stayed at this job for so many years and it hit me, it was fear. While I had access to those free benefits I decided to take full advantage of them and began to attend therapy which helped me understand where this fear stemmed from. It turned out that I have ADHD and one of the things I would often do would be to create “walls of awful”, meaning I would become debilitated at the thought of acts that I perceived to be too stressful. Acts such as applying for my own insurance, just the thought of it made me so anxious that I would have rather live an unfulfilled life than to follow my calling. Once I made that connection I began to believed that if I applied myself with all the coping skills I learned during therapy I could indeed live the life of my dreams. I left the warehouse during the first shutdown in 2020 and opened my own salon which I still successfully run & operate to this day.

Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
I think the intention I pour into my offerings, my genuine love & desire to help create a positive impact on my clients life both physically & spiritually.
