Amanda , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Has Covid resulted in any major changes to your business model?
So, TaylorMade Candles actually started right before the pandemic hit. Once COIVD occurred many things change amongst our supplies and business. We did shut down for sometime to regroup and see how would could continue to grow during this pandemic. My goal was to make sure I continued to provide quality products and my customers get there packages on time. There was a point of time that supplies had been back ordered and no one was shipping out a thing. It of course impacted the business, but it also gave us time to rebrand and expand our candle line. I would say it was hard being a business during this time, but also has been rewarding with the new products we’ve created.
Amanda , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My name is Amanda Jackson. I am the owner of TaylorMade Candles. TaylorMade Candles is a luxury candle company looking to make people relax, refresh, and reconnect through our unique aromas. TaylorMade was established in 2019, stemming from the love and obsessions of purchasing various candles. Since then I have used the same money purchasing candles to handcraft my own paraben free, organic soy candles. Creating many original and unique scents that are not your typical store candles. TaylorMade is committed to providing luxury candles that burn off, relaxing, refreshing, reconnecting aromas. We know that every product counts, and strive to make the entire shopping experience as rewarding as possible. Not only do we create candles we have room sprays. We call this “A Candle in a Bottle”, for our ones who like to take their candle on THE GO.
Do you sell on your site, or do you use a platform like Amazon, Etsy, Cratejoy, etc?
I actually have a website on WIX. I wanted to be able to have all those amenities in one place. I chose WIX because it gave a lot of great options like marketing emails, web designers, customer data, and so much more. I would say the cons I experienced is learning how to navigate through the website and creating my site for TaylorMade. It was definitely challenging in beginning, but I have gotten better with my designing and it’s still a work in progress. My pro is I enjoy getting to pick how I want my brand to look and it’s my own business site with nothing tied to it. I get to have my own personal product showcased on a TaylorMade website, it get’s no better than that. I pray one day to be able to share my products on larger platforms like Amazon.
What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
Honestly, social media and pop up shops have helped me grow my clientele. I attended many pop up shops since the start of my business. I was able to meet so many wonderful people. Having the ability to share my story and network has been a blessing for me and my business. Also I feel that it’s better for your clientele be able to see and smell your products. This gives them a feel of what they are buying. Promoting your business also allows people to share amongst others in the community and all over the world. I been able to meet people from everywhere and “word of mouth” from my clientele has also grown my business. I also try to keep my social media up to date for those who are tech savvy. I market my new products, promote sales, and keep my customers up to date on my business. You want them to feel included as well, make them a TaylorMade Candle Lover!
