Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Amanda Irish. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Amanda, thanks for joining us today. What was it like going from idea to execution? Can you share some of the backstory and some of the major steps or milestones?
My cousin encouraged me to take an injector course with and some of her friends. We are all registered nurses working various units within hospitals. I really ended up loving the course and decided to do some shadowing and further training classes. I started injecting my family and friends and when I felt I was ready I decided to rent an office space start marketing to more clients. It took me about a year before I was comfortable enough injecting by myself before I opened my office doors.
Amanda, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I am a nurse injector in Mesa, AZ. I own Amanda’s Aesthetics and offer dermal fillers, Botox, PRP, micro needling and skin care. I really pride myself in natural looking results and healthy glowing skin. I feel healthy skin can bring confidence and strength to everyone. Aging does not have to be a dreaded life sentence. There are affordable options with little downtime that can make us look and feel our best by either slowing the aging process or enhancing our natural features which empowers self confidence, youthfulness and beauty. Whether you want subtle results and privacy or would love to share with the world how aesthetics has brought confidence and assurance within yourself, I love being able to bring that feeling to everyone.
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
There is much to learn, and you have to be resilient to learn.. Learning to inject is so different than working as a bedside nurse. Almost nothing is the same. Assessing faces instead of the whole body, but also taking the body into consideration is a whole new mindset. Conversations are different, healthy, happy, hopeful people fill my day now rather than the sick or injured and grief stricken parents. As much as I love being a nurse in the hospital caring for patients at their worst and being a small light of hope and healing. I can see my own mental status healing the more I step away from bedside and focus on the aesthetic side of nursing and bringing joy to men and women when they look in the mirror.
We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
That Botox and fillers make you look fake and that rich housewives and celebrities can only afford these services. I know there is stigma with aesthetics, but the more I’ve learn and worked in the industry the more I’ve realized that you can rarely tell who has had “work” done. The more common goal is natural results, focusing on enhancing features we already have and building on our beauty. There are always going to be the overfilled lips and cheeks, and that’s ok too. Some people love it. But that is not the usual reason people seek Botox and fillers. People want to feel beautiful, we don’t want to look in the mirror and see crows feet, frown lines and sagging skin. If we can remove those lines and tighten that skin, who wouldn’t be happy and feel more beautiful!
