We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Amanda Hunt. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Amanda below.
Hi Amanda, thanks for joining us today. Can you talk to us about how you learned to do what you do?
I grew up watching Bob Ross. The patience he taught in his episodes made me understand that speeding up things doesn’t always mean quicker success.
Painting isn’t and wasn’t always easy. The challenges are always there; My critical self: “That tree doesn’t look right. ” My hard-headed self: “Well, scrape it off and do it again!” You can always start over, add to it, take away, or scrap it and do it again. It’s only a failure if you call it one.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I was born and raised in Martinsville, Indiana and have enjoyed painting most of my artistic life. It wasn’t until recently that I learned that my work inspired people and others found interest in my completed pieces.
I am a painter. I’ve been painting for many years; inspired when I was young, however I have really gotten deeper into oil painting over the last few years. I have found that it reduces stress and it brings myself, as well as others, happiness. I paint with acrylic and oils. Am I famous? No. Would I like to be? Yes, of course! I’m still a proud painter, and I’m loud about it. I want everyone to know. Whether I like one of my completed pieces or not, I have found that someone else does.
I am an artist with vision and have a passion for painting. Starting young, watching famous artists and their techniques, I incorporated my own with what I had learned at a young age.
I am inspired by others and a self-taught artist-entrepreneur and take pride in my artwork. My art focuses primarily on landscapes, however I have completed some portraits. I paint mainly with oils however, I will sometimes welcome the opportunity to complete an acrylic piece. I like the challenge of trying to paint something I’ve seen someone else do, but of course, it will never be like theirs; but the inspiration was there!
What sets me apart from others is that I don’t sell my work to make money, I sell my work to cover the materials and time in it but ultimately seeing that someone loves what they have acquired from me, brings me joy. Sometimes you may see a painting that I’ve been inspired by but put my own spin on, but you will never see two of the same painting that I’ve completed. Most are off the top of my head and there are a few “I think I’ll try something like that” paintings floating around out there. I’d like to get my paintings out to all 50 states.

Is there mission driving your creative journey?
Like I stated, I’d like to get my paintings out to all 50 states. Right now I am local, but would like to just get my work out there.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
The peace it brings to myself and the happiness it brings to others. Knowing that someone likes what I have created means I have met my goal.
