We recently connected with Amanda Harsche and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Amanda , thanks for joining us today. Risking taking is a huge part of most people’s story but too often society overlooks those risks and only focuses on where you are today. Can you talk to us about a risk you’ve taken – it could be a big risk or a small one – but walk us through the backstory.
The biggest risk I have took was packing 4 suitcases and moving from my home town. Starting over isn’t easy. It’s full of risks and anxiety.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Hello! My name is Amanda Harsche. On Instagram you can find me at @mandaharsche. I am a full time stylist behind the chair in downtown Denver Colorado at The Edit salon, but am also a color and hair cutting educator. My passion is to create art and help others achieve their goals. I had amazing mentors that helped me along the way and want to be able to give that same gratitude back. I am originally from North Dakota and am so grateful that this career has let me travel around the world teaching and meeting life long friends.
How did you build your audience on social media?
When I graduated beauty school my partner had moved to a small town in Ohio where I had to start a brand new career at the age of 29 knowing no one. I knew I wanted to be a fashion color artist and was lucky enough to find one of my best friends to this day Alice that let me do whatever I wanted to her hair and take multiple pictures of different styles. What you post on the internet is what you end up getting in your chair and that is how I was able to build that clientele.
Have you ever had to pivot?
A big lesson I am still learning is taking personal time for yourself and self care or else you get burn out. I have an amazing mentor Nina that one time asked me how long I think I can keep up not taking time to myself and that always sticks with me. My days off I usually take models and still do hair and it’s important to have a moment to relax and decompress or else burnout will happen especially with mental health.
