We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Amanda Griffin-Snyder a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Amanda thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Let’s start with the story of your mission. What should we know?
Thank you so much for this interview, happy to tell our story and hopefully inspire others to follow their dreams too. Our mission is really the heartbeat of everything we do at Wild Three Co. We are on a mission to redefine the way we all think about products and their impact on our planet and people. Our mission is to produce the highest quality herbal remedies with Hemp CBD and other cannabinoids. It is important to us that our proprietary herbal formulas are safe, sustainable, organic, lab tested and of course highly effective. Our mission and drive is rooted in a passion for nurturing both people and the planet. We know that the choices we make today ripple into the future, shaping the world we leave for generations to come so it has always been important to us that our business has a low impact on the environment while also having a profound impact on our customers overall health.
We stand proudly with organizations like 1% for the Planet and The Loveland Foundation. We recognize that real change happens when we come together, united by a shared vision of a more just and sustainable world. Our commitment to giving back isn’t just a gesture; it’s a pledge to honor the interconnectedness of all life and to uplift those whose voices have been marginalized. Every action we take is a testament to our belief in the transformative power of collective action.
Every choice we make, from our sustainable packaging to our fair-trade practices, is a reflection of our commitment to making a difference, one product at a time. Each of us has the power to be a force for good!
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My name is Amanda. My husband Kalle and I grew up in Saratoga Springs, in Upstate NY. I am the oldest of 5 kids. I always knew that I wanted to be a teacher and work with kids with disabilities. Having a learning disability myself, I wanted to make an impact. I spent most of my childhood Summer days playing outside with friends and in the forest behind our house. My connectedness to nature started there in the quiet of the trees and the freedom of the outside. We would explore and adventure all day and come running home for dinner to my Father’s loud whistle! I later went to a small private highschool that was based on the Arts, Science and Nature. Being exposed to this environment allowed me to thrive despite my learning disability and I finally found my love of learning! I went to college and graduated with a teaching degree. I taught for a while after but ultimately got an opportunity to move here to the Bay Area. My husband Kalle + I have been in the cannabis & Hemp industries here since 2010; We were founding members operating a medical cannabis dispensary in the Bay Area for 8 years. During our time working at the dispensary we fell in love with plant medicines. We were lucky enough to work closely with so many patients and got to witness the profound effect cannabis and hemp had on them. That experience inspires us, even today! A couple of years prior to starting Wild Three Co. ™ Kalle + I were looking for Hemp CBD products that were organic, that had herbs in the formula and that were sustainable. Kalle is very sensitive to herbs, chemicals and other allergens, he’s allergic to so many things, we had to find a company that was safe for him but we could not find one that met all of our standards. One day we thought that the best thing to do was make it ourselves. We decided to hire a Clinical Herbalist to oversee our formulations and work with us on creating products for Kalle. We spent 3 years on our formulations with her. During that time we discovered that other people needed our products too! We changed our formulas around to get the effects we needed and then had about 1 year of working with volunteers that would test our products before we launched. We are a women-owned, husband-and-wife team! We Co-founded Wild Three Co.™ in 2017. Named lovingly after our 3 Wild Kids!
Can you tell us the story behind how you met your business partner?
Ha! Yes, I’ll give you the short version. I met my cofounder/business partner in high school! We were 15 &16. This year Kalle and I are celebrating 25 years together and married for 17 years! It feels like yesterday but also like a different lifetime.
We’ve all heard the advice not to do business with family, especially your spouse, but we work and collaborate extremely well together. We’ve always worked well together, even as teenagers when we worked for the same company. Kalle and I know how each other work, what our strengths and weaknesses are. He is also the best daddy to our babies. Everyday I wake up and my first gratitude for the day is always that Kalle is my husband and the second is for the Wild Three! Kalle and I are partners in everything we do and wouldn’t have it any other way!
Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
Getting out into the community! Kalle + I have been participating in a lot of local vendor markets in the Bay Area the last 2 years and we absolutely love meeting everyone and the best is seeing returning customers come up to our booth and share their experience with our products! We also love seeing customers that we met at markets ordering more on our website. Every order and customer means so much to us. Kalle + I put our heart and soul into every product we make. I’m not sure everyone realizes the impact they have when they buy from a small business…it’s powerful and reminds us to keep going! It’s a lot of work doing that many markets a month, especially with 3 kiddos. It’s not just market day but the days leading up to the market prepping and packing, but it is so worth it! There is a lot of planning and marketing strategy that has to happen but it fills our cup to meet so many people and connect. We also network with other business professionals and owners in the area. We work with Chiropractors, Physical Therapy offices and Naturopathic Drs. Our products are available at Spas, grocery stores, boutiques, shops and places like that in the Bay Area and across the US. We ship our products across the US too and you can find our products available in multiple states. Another great source is word of mouth. Honestly, that is the best way to meet new customers! When someone refers a friend to us because of their positive experience, that means the world to us! We are so very grateful for this community.
