We recently connected with Amanda Grazioli and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Amanda, thanks for joining us today. Can you share an important lesson you learned in a prior job that’s helped you in your career afterwards?
Before I started my business, I worked in theater, fundraising, and marketing. Throughout all of these experiences, I learned the power of excellent storytelling. Humans crave stories, which are crucial to making sense of the world around us. According to research by Greg J. Stephens, Lauren J. Silbert, and Uri Hasson, we experience a process called neural coupling (or mirroring) when we hear a story, causing the same areas of our brain to light up as the ones firing in the teller’s brain. Essentially, story is the key to connection, attention, and action!
I learned that I had to tell a compelling story if I wanted people to care about something. I practiced getting into the minds and hearts of my audience and sharing things in ways that made them understand and feel.
Now, as a copywriter and brand messaging consultant, I have an in-depth discovery process that allows me to craft purposeful stories that build brands.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
As a small business copywriter, I help purpose-driven small businesses attract and convert more dream clients through a powerful combination of foundational brand messaging, strategic web copy, and audience-serving blog content.
When I decided to leave my full-time marketing job in 2016, I knew other small business owners doing inspiring work but struggling to find the right words to connect with their customers. It was immediately apparent that this was a problem I could solve.
With years of experience as a theater artist and marketing professional, I knew how to listen deeply. I knew how marketing worked. But most importantly, I knew how to take in big ideas, synthesize them, and articulate them in a way that would stop people in their tracks and get them to take action.
Since then, I’ve used those skills (and more that I’ve learned along the way) to help countless small businesses speak their target audience’s language in their authentic brand voice and grow their brands. It’s such a joy to support brands doing work that matters—like creating more human-centered workplaces, offering support to new moms, or building websites for inclusive photographers. In this era of AI shortcuts, human-crafted messages matter more than ever for small businesses that want to stand out from the crowd!
I also love showing my two young daughters that they can build the life they want if they put in the work.

Can you share one of your favorite marketing or sales stories?
I love to share my knowledge generously through my social media feeds, blog posts, and emails and by volunteering to teach workshops for new entrepreneurs.
Many new business owners aren’t ready yet to invest in brand messaging, website copy, or blogging. It means a lot to be able to help them start on the right path through the resources I share.
There have been many times when someone attends a workshop or subscribes to emails, and then, years later, they reach out when they have a need and are ready to hire a professional. It’s so rewarding to know that all the energy I put into building relationships and trust pays off when I eventually work with these kickass, aligned clients!
What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
Since starting my business, I’ve made a conscious commitment to continuous improvement. I ask for feedback and use it to develop client-centered processes that deliver the best experience and results. Thoughtful touches like handwritten notes make a huge difference. Clear communication, adherence to timelines, and incredible work don’t hurt either!
Beyond my professionalism and skills, how I make people feel has helped me build my reputation in the market. I get told by clients all the time that they have never felt more seen and understood by a creative professional. Turning your brand’s voice over to someone else takes a lot of trust, and I take that responsibility seriously.
By putting in the work to dive deep into their business, audience, and industry, I can craft words that make an impact and sound like they wrote them—only better. Happy clients lead to more happy clients, and I’m proud of my reputation for professionalism, kindness, and excellence.
