We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Amanda Canales . We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Amanda below.
Hi Amanda, thanks for joining us today. We’d love to hear the backstory behind a risk you’ve taken – whether big or small, walk us through what it was like and how it ultimately turned out.
In March 2020, I got laid off from my marketing job. Like everyone else I took the 2 week break and realized that the world wasn’t going to be the same. I had freelance social media clients thankfully, but I knew that something had to charge. While I applied to marketing jobs I also pitched freelance social media clients. I realized that I needed I closed 2 freelance clients and had interviews but I wasn’t landing anything. So I then decided to go full time into freelance instead of trying to apply to jobs. I did this because I felt that having my own schedule was amazing but I also felt like so many people were applying to jobs that my resume was swimming in an ocean. I took a risk of going all in on freelancing.

Amanda, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I started out in freelance social media marketing in 2016 while I worked a corporate job. Then in 2020 I went full time freelancer. I then started offering brand strategy and email marketing and I loved it. The one thing I noticed is that I started helping people build and start a funnel with digital marketing. I think a lot of people either are intimidated by building a funnel or don’t know how to start. So if you’re ready to build a funnel that gets you booked and sales, you in the right place. Let’s build you a powerful and profitable funnel!
Is there mission driving your creative journey?
My mission is to serve other women entrepreneurs to have more freedom. I know that as a mom we want to always be present and I know I can help give that to my clients. I also want to change the narrative about Latinas can be great business owners.
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
My best advice is to pick a niche and start creating content. It doesn’t matter if you change your niche in 3 months or 6 months. But the goal is to get focused and stay motivated by seeing results fast. I would even start a mini challenge. Can you post for 3 months consistently? Now, what can you learn from that and build momentum from it.
