Amanda, appreciate you joining us today. How do you feel about asking friends and family to support your business? What’s appropriate, what’s not? Where do you draw the line?

Friends and family can be a blessing and a curse and when it comes to business it could be a grey line.
You can always ask for help writing a review. Some will jump at the chance to leave you a 5 star Google review others are weird. Plus you want an unbiased feedback and some are too afraid to tell you the truth.
What I did was provide a 5 minute massage in exchange for a review. That way it’s not a lie as a massage therapist they did get a massage from you

Hello!

I’m Amanda owner operator of Midguards Rest LLC!
I am a licensed and insured Massage Therapist and a Reiki 2 Practionerr (my study is in Holy Fire Reiki)

Midguards Rest is from Norse mythology and it translates to “Resting Where You Are Destined To Be” and it just seems fitting.

I have always been an empathic and in-tuned healer stuck working mediocre jobs where eventually my soul felt like it was dying so I decided to take a chance become a massage therapist so I can utilize my gifts and turn what I love to do into a career.
Eh I don’t like that ….more like a life style of really helping people. Mind body and soul! Honestly this does not feel like work to me at all I really do have a passion for this.

Unlike other places where the vibe is stuffy I have created a safe and warm environment. We can be as loud or as quiet as you want. I do match your energy if you wanna nap ill be quiet if you wanna talk i’m here to listen! You want to learn a few things… ask! I’ll tell you exactly why your hurting. Even if you don’t know something is tight OH believe me I will find it!

My goal is to provide you a magical experience and make you feel awesome! I will have a quick 5 minute conversation prior to you getting on the table to figure out the best way to help you

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?

I just graduated massage therapy school and passed the state nursing board exam. Now what? I know I didn’t want to work for anyone. I did gig work to get myself through school so im literally surviving day to day. Might as well make house calls and figure out something. So I posted on Facebook hey new massage therapist making house calls…. You can only imagine how many unsafe situations I put myself in. Then randomly this guy Brandon called me. He asked if I need a place to work out of? Yeah but here’s the thing I’m new I don’t have any real
clients yet and I don’t wanna be locked into a situation where I can’t pay rent. He cut me
Off- girl did I say anything about money? Well no but then what’s the catch no one offers anything for free. He said I like ur energy already. I am
A gym owner I have a room. I wanna offer my clients massage therapy just give me 30% of what you make. Okay? And that was the start of something beautiful. He ended up selling the gym but I had build myself up enough to rent out an office.

What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?

So many business owners have a strict business casual be polite and professional image. Which hey if it works for you I don’t knock it. However for
Me it’s just be yourself. People respond better to a real person. I have become more friends with my clients. We go camping, out to eat, concerts you name it.

Would you rather go to some upscale place where you have to behave or would you wanna go to your massage therapist friends place where you can gossip and curse and be like hey asshole that hurts!
I have a whole family who one person brought their sister and now their grandparents and granddaughters see me. I became a name in that family… or a member of that family.

Be good, be yourself and people will wanna see you and promote you
