Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Amanda Bumbala. We think you’ll enjoy
our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Amanda, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. What do you think it takes to be successful?
Success may look different to everyone; but no matter the vision, I believe reaching any goal takes disciple, perseverance, and persistence . I agree with Andy Andrew’s in the book ‘The Seven Decisions’ when he writes, “you must persist without exception.”
Successful people throughout history have notoriously persisted at their goals even when told they were impossible. Discipline, perseverance, and persistence was what ultimately drove them to success. Something I like to ask myself on a daily basis is “Are you willing?”. I actually have it written on several notecards hung around my house so I remember to ask myself this question multiple times everyday.
Basically, it reminds me in order to reach my biggest goals in life, I must be willing to persist, willing to persevere through the hard days, and willing to discipline myself in every aspect necessary to keep me on the path to success.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
I am a Colorado based residential real estate agent who specializes in helping Cannabis industry clients. And although, I am more than happy to help anyone in Colorado buy or sell their home, I specialize in educating and helping those involved within the cannabis industry. This may include: cannabis business owners, cannabis industry employees, or anyone who just partakes and enjoys the benefits of cannabis.
I got my first opportunity to work within the cannabis industry back when I lived in Florida. The main focus of my work with the company was to bring cannabis activism to the masses and help to nurture new business relationships within a newly budding industry. Once dispensaries started to open in my area I decided to start working as a bud tender at my local medical dispensary. During this time, I was able to grow my social following up to tens of thousands of followers which gifted me many opportunities to travel the country and attend cannabis event functions.
Traveling brought me to realize if I wanted to enjoy the true benefits of recreational cannabis legalization I’d have to move to a more free state and I always felt most at home in Colorado. In search of the best career for my talents and future stability, I found myself studying to receive my Colorado real estate license, a slight disappointment after months of searching for the perfect job within the cannabis industry. After receiving my license, I quickly learned I had to find a niche within the real estate market or I wasn’t going to make it. I thought long and hard about what I might be best at or most interested in and my mind just kept circling back around to cannabis. That’s when the lightbulb went on — why can’t I combine my love of real estate and my passion for cannabis?
Clients who work within the cannabis industry have a harder time finding a lending institution to loan them a mortgage. This is where I come in; I work with a handful of mortgage lenders who are able to find options for those submitting proof of income from a company that handles cannabis or cannabis related products that may be denied by other lending institutions. This is actually a problem that many people are unaware of until they go to apply for a loan.
Something else that sets me apart from other real estate agents is the time I take to educate. Knowledge is so important when it comes to buying or selling a home; it’s one of the biggest financial decisions most people make in life. That’s nothing to be taken lightly. I take the time to make sure my clients understand every step of the process and have all of their questions answered, even if they don’t plan on making their move for some time.
I may not be everyone’s cup of tea as a Realtor but I’m extremely proud to be my authentic self throughout every aspect of my life and I wouldn’t want it any other way.
We’d love to hear about how you keep in touch with clients.
Keeping in touch with past clients is SO important in real estate. Many future clients come from past client referrals, as is true in many different businesses. To keep in touch with my clients, I do a handful of things throughout the year.
One of the things I do is blast out several monthly emails to keep my clients informed on the local and national real estate market, local things to do and events, tips for homeowners, and more. I also mail out hand written thank you notes, Christmas cards, Thanksgiving cards, and cards for other special occasions as well.
Something I find really important when building and maintaining relationships with clients is verbal and personal communication. I try to call my clients at least 4 times a year to ask them about their family, their jobs, their pets, their goals, and other similar topics. When I see one of my clients post on social media about something special that happened in their lives, I try to remember it or write it down somewhere I’ll remember to mention it next time I speak to them. This kind of personal touch will keep clients coming back time and time again because it builds a unique kind of trust.
Are there any books, videos, essays or other resources that have significantly impacted your management and entrepreneurial thinking and philosophy?
In the past year, I have read so many books; mostly motivational/self-help category books. Many of them have left a deep impression in the way I conduct my life and business day to day. Some of the books that deserve an honorable mention include but are absolutely not limited to; The Seven Decisions (which I mentioned earlier), You Are a Badass, Think and Grow Rich, David Goggins: Can’t Hurt Me, The Miracle Morning, and The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People.
