We recently connected with Amanda Adkins and have shared our conversation below.
Amanda, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Can you open up about a risk you’ve taken – what it was like taking that risk, why you took the risk and how it turned out?
I believe any artist out there that is creating and allowing themselves to be vulnerable through their work is taking a risk. Or at least it feels risky allowing yourself to be so open with your work.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I started painting and taking my art seriously in my 20’s. It has taken me many years to develop my style and and craft. I generally paint about women’s health, spirituality, nature and animals. My main focus right now is painting about love and joy and how I want to put the world to see that. It might be painting friends and family or things that make me feel happiness. The main thing I would like others to know about my work is virtually different somehow with each series I paint. I like to change things up and experiment as I go.
Is there mission driving your creative journey?
I think I’m always on a mission to continue to better my artistic abilities. Wether it be learning new techniques or trying something experimental I know learning new things keeps me going.
In your view, what can society to do to best support artists, creatives and a thriving creative ecosystem?
I think one of the most important thing other people can do for each other is share the work of artists. Buy original artwork from artists at the full asking price.
