We were lucky to catch up with Alyssia White recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alyssia , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. What do you think it takes to be successful?
I believe success results from achieving your goals by consistently putting in “the work”. I constantly set goals for myself; both for personal and career development. When I noticed that my personal life was affecting the quality of my business, it was a wake-up call to take a few steps back. Inititially, I thought taking these steps back meant that I was failing at expanding in my career as an entrepreneur, all because things didn’t go the way I wanted them to go.
As I grew more mature and took some time to reflect on the challenges I faced this year, my perspective of success quickly changed. Success is achieved by putting in the work within yourself, committing to a daily routine, feeding your spirit with positive energy, and overall taking care of yourself. It takes a lot of inner work to become successful and dedication.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I am the owner and founder of WorkSpace Careers and Branding Services, also known as The Resume Tailor LLC. I provide services for individuals seeking jobs and career development in their industry of choice.
I also coach and educate individuals with interview techniques, resume revisions, and how to negotiate salaries, and more.
We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
I wear many hats as a business owner, however, this usually always leads to burnout. I had to personally unlearn that ‘I can do this by myself’; because in reality you cannot. Expanding and having a team is so important and definitely worth the budget.
The best advise I can give is to outsource if need be so that you can take care of the things that are really important (which most times is yourself).
How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
Asking for help is a huge problem that I have, but God has a way of humbling his children! There are times when I would double book or overwork myself which would result in a service not doing well. This also led to me feeling a bit of imposter syndrome, too. I did learn that it was time to rebrand and also get a team developed to expand my brand to the next level, especially when I was putting in the work.
