Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Alyssia Dominguez. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Alyssia, thanks for joining us today. Do you think your parents have had a meaningful impact on you and your journey?
My parents have always been my biggest champions, and their support has truly shaped both who I am and the path I’ve taken in my career. I come from a family where hard work runs deep. My dad has always been the dreamer, encouraging me to take risks and believe that with enough determination, anything’s possible. That mindset has stayed with me through everything.
My mom was just as supportive. When I started performing at bars and venues at 15, she stepped in as my unofficial manager, helping me book shows until I was old enough to take over at 17.
Their commitment to my passion was incredible. My dad would work a full day, then drive me to my gigs, watch me perform, take me home, and sometimes head straight back to work. There were nights he didn’t sleep at all, just to make sure I could chase this dream. That kind of sacrifice and belief taught me what it really means to show up for the people you love. It’s pushed me to take bold steps in my career and to always put in the work, knowing that dedication and support can take you further than talent alone. I genuinely wouldn’t be where I am today without them.
Alyssia, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I’m a country Latina singer/songwriter with roots in both small town Wisconsin and my Mexican heritage. Music has always been a part of my life. My grandma used to sing and play guitar around the house, and she’s the reason I picked up the instrument in the first place. From there, it grew into something I couldn’t imagine living without.
Growing up in a rural town, country music was everywhere. It was on the radio, at school events, in the community. At the same time, my family introduced me to Tejano and traditional Mexican music. Those two worlds, country and Tejano, blended together and became the foundation of my sound. I love honoring both sides of my background through my music, creating something that feels personal but also speaks to a bigger story.
As an artist, I write and perform songs that reflect real life, with a voice rooted in my culture and experiences. Whether I’m in the studio, sharing behind the scenes moments online, or up on stage, I aim to connect with people in a way that’s authentic and heartfelt.
What sets me apart is that fusion of cultures and the genuine connection I strive to create through every part of my work. I’m proud to represent where I come from and to be part of a growing space for diverse voices in country music. The stage is where I feel most alive, and there’s nothing better than that energy and connection with a crowd.
I’m incredibly grateful for the journey so far and excited for what’s ahead. My hope is that when people discover my music, they feel seen, inspired or maybe just enjoy the ride and dance a little.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
For me, the most rewarding part of being an artist is that full-circle moment. It starts with a spark of inspiration, turns into a song, comes to life in the studio, and eventually reaches people in a way that’s personal to them. There’s nothing like performing a song live and hearing the crowd sing the lyrics back to you. That moment of connection is my favorite.
I also love how music creates community. Whether it’s young people telling me they’ve been inspired to start writing or keep chasing their dreams because of something I shared, or fellow creatives I meet during co-writes and jam sessions, those connections mean everything. Some of the people I’ve met through music have become close friends. That sense of belonging and shared passion is something I’m incredibly grateful for.
At the end of the day, it’s about more than just the music. It’s about building something that brings people together, makes them feel seen, and keeps inspiring the next wave of artists.
Looking back, are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?
I feel really lucky to have discovered some amazing resources throughout my journey in Nashville, where there’s such a strong network for artists. Looking back, I do wish I had known about some of them earlier because they’ve made a huge difference in helping me grow, connect, and feel seen in this industry.
Color Me Country has been a game changer. Rissi Palmer highlights and supports diversity in country music, which is something I’m really passionate about. Song Suffragettes is another one I’m grateful for. It’s a platform that uplifts female artists and gives us a space to share our voices and stories.
Connecting with my PRO (Performing Rights Organization) rep was also a turning point. They’ve guided me toward opportunities and helped get my music in front of the right people. That kind of support is so important, especially when you’re just starting to navigate the business side of things.
One newer resource I’m really excited about is the Country Latin Association. It’s all about celebrating and growing the presence of Latinos in country music, and I’m proud to be part of that evolving space.
These kinds of communities and platforms have helped me find my footing and my voice in a big way, and it’s never too early in your creative journey to find these types of resources.
