We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Alyssa Sawyer a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Alyssa, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Can you tell us about a time where you or your team really helped a customer get an amazing result?
A woman who was 65 years old who was scheduled for a total hip replacement came in wanting to avoid having the surgery. She was walking with a walker because of the pain and was bone on bone in her hip. We had 6 months until the surgery to get her out of pain and healthy in order to be able to cancel it. With-in a month of a strict exercise regimen, lots of hands on body work, and a healthy diet she was now able to walk with a just a cane instead of a full on walker. She continued this process and within 3 months she was pain free and canceled the surgery. She continued her regimen as well as started to get strong and build muscle throughout her whole body. Eventually she could squat, lunge, deadlift, and more with no problem and you would never know that she still had no cartilage in her hip. Years later she is still pain free and surgery free.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I have become a master of being holistic. I have 14 years of practice of studying the body and how everything internally and externally will either create health or disease. I help people identify the root of almost any pain they are experiencing in a physical, mental, emotional, or spiritual way. I started by obtaining a degree in exercise science and from there the C.H.E.K. Institute was a huge starting point. C.H.E.K. stands for Corrective Holistic Exercise Kinesiology and we learn hundreds of orthopedic assessments in order to write a client a scientifically-based exercise program based on their individual needs in order to heal their specific issue. The C.H.E.K. system also has a life coaching portion where we assess someones mental/emotional state and overall internal functioning of the organ systems of the body in order to create a road map to health for them. I also have many different certifications in areas like lymphatic drainage therapy, osteopathic-based fascial manual therapy techniques, holistic gut healing, tuning fork therapy, and the ELDOA method. I can help people heal back pain, jaw disfunction, neck pain, digestive issues, find the driver for their anxiety/ depression, and advise on bringing the hormonal system back into balance. It has become my mission to show people how to get back to their most natural state, reclaim their wellness, and create a sustainable road map to maintain harmony within all systems of the body. I am most proud of my ability to see the big picture and pinpoint the driver of disease in people’s lives.

Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
That standing out and being authentic isn’t always the easy and most acceptable way to go. Once one fully embodies who they are and what they stand for we start to realize how many people are just cookie cutter versions of their family of origin and it makes it very challenging for them to now change as adults. Most people need patience, kindness, and a big reason WHY (ie big dream) to actually make real and lasting change in their lives. I have found over and over again that most people need to come face to face with what they believe is a death experience for them to find their most authentic and healthiest version of themselves.

What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
Referrals have been my best source for new clients. They usually already have a foundation of trust in what I do per the success story that has be shared with them.
