We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Alyssa Miller. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Alyssa below.
Hi Alyssa, thanks for joining us today. Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?
I believe in families and strong families are built around the table. I saw picky eating being the main thing interrupting families being able to connect at the table. Instead of walking away from meals feeling connected and bonded families were feeling discouraged, frustrated, scared or worried and even angry. Picky eating doesn’t have to pull families apart and that is why I do what I do, to help families use meal times as a place of connection and peace instead of battles.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I’m a dietitian and mom to three. I help parents use gentle strategies to get their little ones to eat healthy foods and a balanced diet so they can grow and develop into the amazing adults they were meant to be. I thought I had feeding kids all figured out until I had my own. The advice typically given works on paper but in practice it was making our dinner table feel more like a warzone than a place of connection and I decided to make some BIG changes to how we parented at the table and around food and it changed everything for us. Now I share this with parents who don’t have the tools to help their little ones eat a healthy well rounded diet. I care deeply for the parents who I work with, in helping them truly connect with their kids at the table while also raising them to have a healthy relationship with food and their bodies. This all starts at the table.
Do you have multiple revenue streams – if so, can you talk to us about those streams and how your developed them?
I leverage my course and subsequent membership to make revenue for my business but I’ve also started expanding where I get my income from. Now, I work with brands I love both as ads and affiliate marketing. I’m always looking for new and unique ways to help fund my company so I can reach more parents to help! I used to view making money as the behind the scenes less important part of my business but now I realize the more money I make the more people I can reach!

Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
I used to just provide value over and over for free and figured if they liked what they heard they would buy from me. I never make an ask for people to buy. This is true for a small select group of people but the majority of people don’t think that way. They’re struggling and the problem is so big for them and it’s all they can focus on. It’s actually a disservice to have the solution and NOT tell them about it. I used to have a lot of shame or insecurity asking people to buy but now I know the results I can help them get are well worth it and helping people is exactly why I do what I do – why would I not provide the help they’re looking for. When I thought about it like that it was so obvious that it’s actually selfish not to sell or “make the ask” to my audience.
