We recently connected with Alyssa Capps and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Alyssa thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Folks often look at a successful business and imagine it was an overnight success, but from what we’ve seen this is often far from the truth. We’d love to hear your scaling up story – walk us through how you grew over time – what were some of the big things you had to do to grow and what was that scaling up journey like?
Well in 2020 during covid I got bored. So, I decided to make some TikTok’s. About 3 months later my dancing videos started taking off. In 2 and half years I now have1.5 million followers on TikTok. 180k on Instagram. 60k on Facebook. I don’t have one niche as most people do, and I think that has been the key to my success. What started with just dancing, I now get paid to make content for music artists. I also am big in the police k9 world. I attend every k9 event I can and now next year I will be hosting my own music fest to benefit Project Hero K9. I am heavily into helping Project K9. So, I’m bringing the music world and police world together through dogs. I have an 8 yr. old shepherd/Malinois that is in a lot of my videos that is trained in protection. I have many sponsors from Nineline apparel to The Cowlot hats. I have 3 horses and I compete in sorting and cutting events and fun shows. My horses are also in a lot of my videos, so I have sponsors from impact gel to Saddlebox. I also do some acting which I perform in The Original Murder Mystery live show at the House of Blues a few times a month. I have a few movies I’ve been asked to do in the next year so stay tuned for that. I also started doing videos for restaurants recently and have a few so far that pay for content. I am on every social media platform. I travel a lot back and forth to Nashville and get to hang out with some amazing and very talented artists. I also was just in a music video for Trey Calloway. It’s been an amazing 3 years so far and I am looking forward to many more years of adventures and to see where all this will take me.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I am on Famous Birthdays however they never asked me for my bio, so all the info is incorrect. So, I will tell you a little bit about my background. Well, my age has always been the biggest mystery. So, I won’t give that out, but I am younger than Famous Birthdays claims. And yes, I am an adult. I currently live in Myrtle Beach SC. I travel back and forth a lot to the Nashville area. I spend most of my days when I am not traveling, at the barn riding and taking care of my 3 horses. I have an amazing photographer, Myztic Photos. My mother is my manager. She handles my sponsors, keeps my calendar up to date, she is also my booking agent, and she does 95 percent of my videos and a few photos here and there. My dad was killed by a drunk driver when I was younger. I have 2 brothers and one niece. The only time I actually wear cowboy clothing is at shows. I don’t walk around in a hat and spurs. I enjoy the beach, going to the gym, hanging out with friends, trying new foods, and traveling. Sushi is my favorite food. Teal is my favorite color.
How did you build your audience on social media?
The biggest hurdle on social media is figuring out the algorithm of each platform. They change constantly and if you post the same stuff over and over people get bored. So you have to keep them happy. Post daily. Engage with your followers.
How do you keep in touch with clients and foster brand loyalty?
I message or email all my sponsors at least monthly as well as make content for them.
