Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Alyssa Autumn. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Alyssa, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. What do you think matters most in terms of achieving success?

Being successful in my opinion means finding something you’re passionate about. “Choose a job you love and you’ll never have to work a day in your life”
Believe that you can start with nothing and grow something bigger than you ever imagined. Setting goals that are achievable and doing whatever you can to make those goals happen.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?

In 2009 I got my first job in the tanning industry working for a small company. I was right out of high school and had no idea what I wanted to do with the rest of my life. Fast forward to 2020 Covid 19 pandemic hit and jobs were closing. I decided to get my own spray tan machine and start doing spray tans in the corner of my basement to close friends and family. Now it’s 2025 and I have my own spray tan business. I expanded my basement to a whole room dedicated to spray tans which also includes a relaxing waiting room for people to hangout in. Tanning has always been something I loved to do whether it was at the beach or at a tanning salon it always made me happy, and now I get to share that happiness with others. I’ve had girls call me after a breakup saying they are sad and just need a pick me up. Brides calling to make sure they feel beautiful on the most important day of their life. Moms who just need an hour away from a chaotic house. I give women a space to vent, relax, and have a little time to them selves. I love making others feel beautiful because everyone deserves that. It has only been a few years since I’ve started doing this on my own and in such a little bit of time I am amazed at how many people have supported me and keep pushing me to do even more. I recently started offering mobile services. I can now travel to my clients houses and give them a spray tan out of their own home. I have faced challenges along the way, and I know there will be more in the future, but my biggest wish is to make this company more than I could’ve ever imagined.

Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?

Working in the tanning industry for 16 years now I have met so many amazing people and every single one of them is who helped me build my reputation. When you are a spray tan artist you start with zero clients, you don’t know anything or anybody in the business so I relied on these new faces of people I was meeting to get to know the real me and once they did they would recommend to their friends, sisters, moms, daughters. My clients know I am a reliable hard worker. I make sure to always have a positive attitude, listen to them, and always deliver quality spray tans.

Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?

My most effective strategy to grow clientele is word of mouth referrals from my existing customers. I offer a high quality service while also talking and getting to know my clients which has always been beneficial to me. Let’s face it, getting undressed in front of a complete stranger isn’t the easiest thing for a woman to do. I like to create a safe space for people to be them selves and be comfortable in their own body. When they feel comfortable with me in return they let others know about my business.
