Hi Alysha, thanks for joining us today. What do you think matters most in terms of achieving success?
To be successful, I believe it takes a combination of dedication to quality, honesty, exceptional customer service, and a genuine care for your clients. In my experience running a business in the permanent jewelry industry, these elements have proven to be essential.
When I started my journey in permanent jewelry over two years ago, the first year was a significant learning period. I focused on understanding how to operate my business effectively and how to build lasting relationships with customers. From this, I learned that success hinges on a few core principles:
Quality Jewelry: Offering high-quality products is non-negotiable. In an industry where durability and aesthetics matter, I make sure that every piece of jewelry I offer meets high quality standards. This commitment has helped build trust and credibility with my customers.
Honesty and Transparency: Being honest about the materials used and the longevity of the products is crucial. Customers appreciate knowing exactly what they are getting, and this transparency fosters trust. I take pride in being upfront about every aspect of my jewelry, ensuring that clients are well-informed and confident in their purchases.
Exceptional Customer Service: Providing excellent customer service goes beyond just addressing issues; it’s about creating a positive experience. One of the special aspects of owning a small business is the ability to connect with clients on a personal level. Unlike larger corporate entities where customers can often feel like just a number, I have the opportunity to make each individual feel valued and recognized.
Genuine Care: At the heart of it all is a genuine care for customers. My aim is to not only provide a product but also to build a brand that people love and trust. By showing that I genuinely care about their satisfaction and well-being, I create lasting relationships that go beyond a single transaction.
Alysha, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Hello, my name is Alysha. I’m a mom of two beautiful little girls, and my life is a bustling blend of family, work, and creative passion. During the week, when I’m not attending events or hosting private parties, I juggle a full-time job in business management and accounting with homeschooling my kids. Many people often wonder how I manage to balance all these responsibilities, and my secret is simple: coffee!
My journey into the world of permanent jewelry began over two years ago, at a time when it wasn’t as widely recognized. I dove into this field out of a deep appreciation for jewelry and a desire to blend my love for creativity with my professional life. I started by teaching myself the ins and outs of the industry, from the technical aspects of jewelry making to the nuances of running a business. It’s been a rewarding journey of growth and self-discovery.
At Golden Daze, I offer a wide range of permanent jewelry options, including over 100 chain and charm choices. This allows me to create customized pieces that range from bracelets to necklaces, tailored to each client’s preferences in color, size, and design. What sets me apart is my dedication to providing a personal touch in every piece I create. I work closely with each customer to ensure their jewelry is not just a product, but a meaningful and special part of their lives. Whether you’re looking for a unique gift or a meaningful addition to your collection, I strive to create something that resonates with you and celebrates your individuality.
What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
Vendor pop-up markets provide a fantastic opportunity to showcase my jewelry in a lively and engaging setting, where I can connect directly with potential clients and offer them a firsthand look at my products. These events often lead to immediate interest and create a buzz that helps spread the word about Golden Daze.
Private parties are another effective avenue for reaching new clients. Hosting or participating in these intimate gatherings allows me to present my jewelry in a personal and relaxed environment, where guests can see and experience the products up close. This setting often fosters meaningful conversations and helps build lasting relationships with attendees, who may then share their positive experiences with others.
However, the most powerful source of new clients has been word of mouth. Many small businesses thrive on personal recommendations, and I’ve found that when people talk about how much they love a product, it significantly boosts interest and inquiry about the brand. Satisfied clients who share their positive experiences with friends and family are invaluable in helping to grow my customer base.
Have you ever had to pivot?
In the fast-evolving world of permanent jewelry, staying ahead of the game is crucial, and this often requires adapting quickly to changing circumstances. One significant time I had to pivot occurred as my business began to experience a substantial increase in demand.
With the booming interest in permanent jewelry, I found myself juggling a growing number of responsibilities alongside my full-time job in business management, homeschooling my children, and managing my small business. As my business continued to grow, it became clear that I couldn’t maintain my previous level of commitment to everything simultaneously. The challenge was figuring out how to balance it all effectively.
To address this, I had to make some tough decisions about where to allocate my time and energy. I realized that in order to provide the best possible service to my clients and be present for my family, I needed to prioritize. This meant scaling back my hours at my full-time job and, at times, declining invitations to events or parties that I would have otherwise attended. I also had to make the difficult choice to miss out on weekend gatherings with friends to focus on working vendor markets and other business-related activities.
These adjustments were not easy, as they meant making sacrifices in various areas of my life. However, I learned that showing up where it matters most—whether for my clients, my family, or my business—was essential for maintaining balance and ensuring success. While I couldn’t do everything, I focused on being present for the people and activities that were most important to me.
This pivot taught me valuable lessons about prioritization, time management, and the importance of being flexible. It reinforced that while I may not always be able to do it all, I can still make a meaningful impact by focusing on what truly matters and adapting as needed.
