We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Alyse Brown. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Alyse below.
Hi Alyse, thanks for joining us today. What do you think Corporate America gets wrong in your industry?
U.S. apparel manufacturers often play a critical role in implementing more cost-effective solutions than many assume. While labor costs may be higher, we counterbalance that with automation, efficiency, and faster turnaround times, making us more competitive. Our ability to adapt quickly to shifts in consumer demand and respond to trends with flexibility is a key advantage, unlike the slower response times you may get with offshore production. There’s also a growing demand for niche, locally-made products.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I grew up in an entrepreneurial family in Detroit, where discipline, resilience, and financial independence were non-negotiable. While others focused solely on school, I balanced academics, sports, music, and competitions—skills that shaped my work ethic.
My path to fashion wasn’t traditional. I earned a BA in Fashion Marketing & Merchandising in Chicago, studied trend forecasting in London, and later launched a custom gown business. But I quickly learned that success in fashion isn’t just about design—it’s about strategy, planning, and execution.
After managing multi-million-dollar real estate properties by 25, I pivoted back to my true passion—fashion. In 2019, I moved to LA and founded Alyyo Clothing Company, a full-package manufacturing firm helping brands design, plan, and produce their collections. We offer hands-on support, bridging the gap between emerging brands and high-quality production—without the typical headaches of overseas factories.
What makes Alyyo different? We educate and empower designers, providing transparency and real solutions for production challenges. Many brands come to us after struggling with delays and quality issues—we fix that with expertise and efficiency.
In 2025, we’re scaling our in-house design team to serve even more brands. If you’re serious about launching or growing your fashion brand, Alyyo is here to make it happen. We’re also hosting our 2nd annual 3 Day Immersive Garment Factory Tour May 29th-31st, we’re excited to be opening 20 new spots for designers to attend this year, last year we were capped at 10 attendees. This year 30 lucky individuals will get a first hand look at how we make products.
Can you talk to us about your experience with buying businesses?
Alyyo Clothing Company wasn’t built from scratch—it was built through strategic acquisitions, partnerships, and collaboration. My partners and I entered the industry by acquiring existing businesses, combining resources, and scaling them into something bigger than any of us could have done alone.
During COVID, small factories struggled, production costs soared, and designers faced constant delays. Instead of starting over, we saw an opportunity to merge talent, equipment, and expertise to create a stronger, more sustainable manufacturing solution.
Today, Alyyo is a full-package manufacturing firm serving brands across the U.S, proving that growth isn’t always about starting fresh—it’s about recognizing opportunities and working smarter.
For entrepreneurs looking to launch, scale, or pivot—collaboration is your greatest asset. The right partnerships can open doors you never knew existed.
Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
The most effective strategy for growing our clientele? Delegation, strategic networking, and word-of-mouth.
At first, I wore every hat, but to scale, I had to shift my focus to sales strategy and team building. Delegating operations freed me up to connect with potential clients and refine our services.
We also go where our clients are—trade shows and industry events. Networking, handing out business cards, and offering free promos keep Alyyo top of mind when designers are ready to manufacture.
But our most powerful tool? Word-of-mouth. We prioritize quality and a seamless experience, which naturally leads to referrals. A strong reputation builds trust, and trust drives business.
