Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Aly DelaCoeur. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Aly, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today So, one thing many business owners consider is donating a percentage of sales or profits to an organization or cause. We’d love to hear your thoughts and the story behind how and why you chose the cause or organization you donate to.
I am really passionate about giving back to the community. As a small business owner, I am always looking for ways to give back to the community where I live in. Donating a small percentage of sales is a simple and easy way to do that. It really doesn’t take a lot out of your time, but could have a huge impact on the rescue or shelter group we are working with. Additionally, it drives business to you as most people want to do business with people who help others.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My initial interest in the pet industry was inspired by my dog Duke, who was considered an unadoptable dog. I immediately formed a bond with him and made the decision to try to help him live the best life possible. As I began to learn more about him, I was bombarded with information on what to do and what not to do. I quickly learned that there was so much information that wasn’t based on anything. That is where Wag Enabled was born. Wag Enabled’s goal is to connect pet parents with businesses and information that is based on animal behavior science and love. Everything on our site is dedicated to enhancing the relationship between a human and their dog.
We work with industry experts to create interactive challenges and courses to help pet parents better understand their dogs. We provide recommendations for brands and products that follow that same ethos: ensuring every dog is loved and treated with respect!
What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
This might sound a little cheesy, but staying true to who we are. At Wag Enabled we understand that we are an extremely niche brand. We are for that dog owner who wants to learn to better understand their dog. Most pet parents want the quick fix and are more interested in the fun tricks, but we focus on the roots of behavior. Our information might seem like it is too in-depth. But, we build our company for what we wanted for our own pets.
There is always an audience if you are passionate about what you are doing. People can tell when you are providing value that comes from the heart and that you believe in what you are saying or doing.
We’d love to hear about you met your business partner.
I met my business partner in Seattle when I worked as a dog walker. I was working on an animal trainer certification and had the opportunity to help her with her two dogs. She quickly began to recommend me to her friends and family. As we became closer, we both learned that we were interested in the “why” of dogs and providing a life that was just the best that it can be for your average dog owner. We spent years working on a blog together to provide practical advice. As we worked on it, we wanted to provide additional benefits to pet parents and that is where Wag Enabled was born.
