We recently connected with Alxvnder Tha and have shared our conversation below.
Alxvnder , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. We’d love to hear about when you first realized that you wanted to pursue a creative path professionally.
I like to think I’ve been musically gifted since I was little. I used to hear songs just sing the melodies out loud over and over. I usually never forget where I hear a dope song for the first time, where I am or what I’m doing at that time, it never leaves me. Around March 2017, I was staying with a friend of mine and his dad on an air mattress. They let me have a spare room and I’d spend my nights watching videos of producers make beats on FL Studio, concerts, and a lot of No Jumper – those interviews used to have some of the best upcoming indie artists, of course I mean the “Soundcloud Rappers”.
Anyways it was the characters that got my attention, the way these artists seemed to live and carry themselves intrigued me. Being a rapper, let alone a musician was something that never seemed “in the plans” for me. Growing up, I loved music but never got the opportunity to learn instruments I wanted like the guitar and the piano. I remember going to this Guitar Center at this mall and watch players play trying to mimic their finger placements. I had bought this guitar magazine from the gas station and wrote a few of the notes on a big white t-shirt. My mom and my brother let me have it for that. It was just something like learning the electric guitar would be a “lead me down the wrong path” kinda thing to be simple about it.
Finally after learning a few tips and ways to record myself, I began just trying to record songs with my old mp3 headphones with the little speaker on them. I used my Iphone and an app called bandlab to record with mostly free beats from YouTube. Post them to soundcloud, made a few social media accounts and an email, that was the beginning.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I wouldn’t say I got into pursuing music for the fame or anything like that. But basically I see it as a chance to live my life freely and expressing myself to people with like minded views. I don’t try to change anyone or get them to see my side of things, my goal is to make a song or project that is stimulating, through the subject or song style, that tells the listener that those feelings or thoughts they may have – they are not alone. I like to make music that is fun to perform too. Since I’ve started doing local shows, performing is by far one of the best parts of being the artist for me. i make vibe songs, lit songs, mosh pit songs, I don’t really limit my creativity to just one lane of hip hop. I truly create off what I feel in the moment.
There’s always bumps in the road. One of the biggest i’d say, and i’m still somewhat dealing with is that when I first started releasing music I would often try to push it to the hands of other local artists in the area. You just have to put in more effort in reaching people in someway to get them connected to your music, as you do making it. That’s something I would go back and do better if I could.
Something that sets me apart from others I’d say is that I don’t limit myself to just one style of music, I’m truly fascinated by a lot of sounds and melodies i hear in all the different beats I come across. I get just as hype for one as I’d do for the next if they both hitting. There’s been times that I’ve gone and made a hook for a song and just rocked that for a few days until I eventually would come up with the verse. And that’s just fine with me.
The thing I’m most proud of is just that I found what I’d like to do or play a role in for the rest of my life. Never thought of myself as a regular job having kind of man. I’m into a lot pop culture and media related things. I mean some days I read my twitter timeline like it’s a newspaper or something, but anyways this music-entertainment industry-world whatever, is exciting to me, and I don’t want to not be apart. Just proud that no matter what i keep going, keep trying, new opportunities arise and I haven’t given up.
Is there something you think non-creatives will struggle to understand about your journey as a creative? Maybe you can provide some insight – you never know who might benefit from the enlightenment.
I think the thing to remember is that the people who are “creatives” are just the ones who openly chase their dreams. I don’t want to speak down on anybody but I’ve never met anyone, literally not one person who as a kid said it was their dream to work in or run a Customer Service department. So if there’s anything that should be said about a “creative” individual it should be good luck and what can i do to help. I would push everyone to follow they heart. I know life can get rocky and that’s cool, we all grinding for something better. I don’t think you should have to hide behind anything to believe that.

How did you build your audience on social media?
Just genuinely being myself. Making the content I wanted versus what all the blogs and stuff tell you do to. I paid attention to Instagram’s Reels feature and made a few good ones. It got me a few new followers and fans and also opened eligibility to monetize my instagram. So now, if I make a reel that pops off I could see some money from it. I haven’t collected yet, but I’m looking forward to it. Still trying to figure out how to use Tik Tok too. I heard that’s a great platform to make fans for artists.
