Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Alterik Miller. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alterik, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. What’s been the most meaningful project you’ve worked on?
Laundry by far has been the most meaningful project I have to date. It’s about a real traumatic event that happened in my life, and I was afraid to share my vulnerability with the world, but it seems I chose correctly because the film is getting a lot of attention.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
Self-taught filmmaker, screenwriter, producer and upcoming director. I started out as a musician but always had my love for film. I saw things differently whether it was the continuity being off, story, plots etc.
I provide screenwriting, producing, soundtrack assistance, directing.
My creativity and willingness to explore different genres without fear sets me apart from other filmmakers.
I am most proud of me learning what my directing voice.
How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
I always wanted to deal with film even when I was a musician. I was afraid to fully jump into the lane and take it serious. But as of 15 years ago I started taking it serious and left music fulltime to pursue film fully. Best decision I ever made.
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
The goal I’m after is to be the best. The next Ava, Lena, Issa, Jordan, Ryan Coogler, Mara Akil, Those are my inspiration.
