We recently connected with AlphaMoses and have shared our conversation below.
AlphaMoses, appreciate you joining us today. Alright, so you had your idea and then what happened? Can you walk us through the story of how you went from just an idea to executing on the idea
Starting to make music for me wasn’t a quick switch. I didn’t just start writing and creating tunes and flows, it was more of a gradual accumulation of skills that got me confident enough to say “If I actually made this into a song and shared it, people might love it”. Keyword being might because not everyone is into the same style or some people just don’t like a certain song.
In order to get started, I did some research on what I would actually need to make a song. I watched hours of videos on YouTube (crazy how you can find anything on there) then I started working and saved up some money to buy some equipments.
Finally, I got just enough and placed my orders, even with all the tools I had back then, the sound wasn’t the best, but I got my start out of it.
I spent days and days playing mad scientist to keyboards and plug-ins, trying and failing over and over again. It wasn’t a pretty site to be honest but I was learning, that’s the important part, I was proud of every single thing I was making, they absolutely were not good but I still took pride in them, it was after all, the best thing I’ve ever created till that point.
AlphaMoses, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I am an embodiment of ideas, I’m not just one single thing and I don’t serve just one purpose. My name is AlphaMoses and I am meant to take the music industry by storm. My friends and some fans refer to me as Wxlf, it’s a bit of a play on words with the word AlphaMoses, I believe and pursue the idea of self belonging as I never did exactly fit into anything or with anyone.
Anyone that listens to my music and comes back for more fits into The Pack and anyone that feels alone truly doesn’t have to feel that way anymore because they’re part of The Pack. They’re not alone anymore, they belong in something bigger, something fulfilling.
You’d be right to think that I didn’t just arrive at this idea on a whim or single day, when I got into music, I noticed everyone always had something to say or do and they went about their own way saying or doing it.
There was less about what the audience had to say, or what the audience wanted to do. I make music that not only touches who I am as a person, but I convey feelings of other people through myself.
It’s a skill that’s still in the works, I haven’t perfected it, but I am still working on it.
I’m very particular about what I put out and when I put it out, my music is hardly for my gain and I hope to keep that faith for as long as I make it.
What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
The lesson I had to unlearn was that “talent was enough” . I’ve come across so many people in the industry, very very talented people that are barely getting a voice.
That is very surprising to me, I thought, if you were good enough, you’ll gain a massive audience and be able to put your musicians in front of them but that is not the case in what I’m seeing so far.
Talent is not enough! Luck is not enough!
There are no shortcuts, there are no blueprints. People need to realize this before getting into the music industry or any industry. You have to create your own way and path, a few things work twice and other things work just once and others will never work in this time period. You have to create your own pace and way. No two ways about that.
That’s been my experience and it’s been really hard trying to unlearn that misconception.
Have you ever had to pivot?
I got booked for a show in Dallas just a while back, We (Artists) had to bring a certain number of ticket sales to the table as a requirement. I was quite nervous I wasn’t gonna be able to beat that, but much to my surprise, I surpassed the goal much more than any artist that was booked for that single show. I had most of the audience in the building that night, we had the best night I’ve ever headlined till date.
We shared vibes, we raved, we turn the whole atmosphere into our own! It was incredible!
